Chapter 18
Leo coldly said: “Teacher, if the results are bad, just don’t mention it. It’s too embarrassing,”
“No, Leah did great! And this set of questions was much harder than the monthly exam, you her score is even higher than before!”
Upon hearing this, Leah’s tense heart finally relaxed.
She smiled faintly, her lips curving upward.
Leo’s face changed, and he snatched the paper to have a look. The score didn’t lie Leah had indeed done
very well.
Quilla tiptoed to see the score and felt an immediate surge of jealousy. How did Leah get so good all of a
sudden?
This couldn’t be possible!
The principal smiled warmly: “The truth is out. Leah earned her progress through her own efforts.”
the head teacher nodded: “Leah has indeed been working very hard lately.”
Leo’s expression shifted through various emotions, eventually settling on one of disbelief. He couldn’t
believe that Leah hadn’t cheated.
At this moment, he suddenly felt that Leah seemed like a stranger to him.
The principal cleared his throat: “Since the truth is clear, the person who slandered Leah should apologize.”
Quilla’s face turned immediately awkward.
Leo’s face was dark as he glared at Quilla, his voice cold and harsh: “I didn’t slander her. You saw the evidence yourself.”
Quilla’s heart sank. She was now caught in a trap of her own making.
The principal, seeing the tension rising, stepped in to mediate: “Since this matter is clear, let’s move forward. There’s no need to keep bringing up past grievances.”

But Quilla didn’t want to give up. She tried to force a smile, looking at the principal with an expression of feigned innocence:
“Principal, I never meant to slander anyone. I just thought that Leah’s sudden improvement was too unusual. That’s all.”
But the principal wasn’t fooled by her act. He looked at her with a stern expression: “It’s not just about improvement. It’s about the way you approached the situation.
If you thought there was a problem, you could have addressed it in a more appropriate manner. Instead, you resorted to accusing Leah without any real proof. This was wrong.”
The head teacher added, “Yes, Leah has passed the test now, and there’s no question left. We need to be responsible for our actions, especially when they involve another person’s reputation.”
Leah, who had been silent up until now, finally spoke, her tone calm but unyielding:
“Since everything has been cleared up, I hope that the people who doubted me will reflect on their
actions. I’ve worked hard to get where I am today. I won’t allow anyone to belittle my efforts.”
Her words were like a slap in the face, and they made Quilla’s cheeks burn with humiliation.
Leo, who had been standing silently, finally spoke in a low voice: “Leah, don’t be so arrogant. You may Mave passed this test, but don’t think that you can fool everyone forever.”
Leah raised her chin slightly, meeting his gaze with unflinching eyes: “I don’t need to fool anyone. I’ve
proven myself.”
The principal gave a final, meaningful glance to Leo: “Now that this matter is settled, I hope everyone can move on and focus on their studies. There’s no need to carry this any further.”
Leo clenched his fists, his anger barely contained, but he didn’t dare challenge the principal. Instead, he turned and left the office, followed by a still–seething Quilla.
After they left, the principal nodded approvingly at Leah: “You handled that well. Keep up the good work.”
The head teacher, too, looked at her with a slight smile: “You’re a strong student, Leah. Don’t let anyone
get in your way.”
Leah stood up and nodded politely: “Thank you, teachers.”
As she left the office, she couldn’t help but let out a deep breath. The weight that had been pressing down anther shoulders for so long had finally lifted.

But she knew this was just the beginning. She couldn’t afford to relax pow. There would always be who tried to bring her down. But she had proven to herself, and to others, that she was capable of achieving greatness on her own terms.
With that thought in mind, Leah walked down the hallway, her steps light but purposdus

Jacob pushed off from the wall and straightened up. His voice was as cool and calm as ever. “What’s the
result?”
Leah couldn’t help but feel a sense of triumph rise within her. She raised her chin slightly, her voice carrying a hint of pride:
“Of course, I won. The principal had me retake the test, and I scored better than the previous
She couldn’t help but feel a little smug. After everything that had happened, she had finally come out on top. The victory was sweet, and it felt even better to share it with him. It was as though her efforts had been recognized.
Jacob’s expression softened slightly, a faint smile tugging at his lips. “Did they apologize?”
Leah froze for a moment, realizing he was asking about the others. She shook her head. “Only the scapegoats apologized. The main culprits didn’t, but I don’t care. I already slapped them in the face with my results.”
Her words were blunt, but she was at peace with them. She had no need to seek validation from those who didn’t believe in her,
Jacob’s lips curled upward in amusement. “Well done.”
Leah’s heart raced, but she didn’t let her emotions show. She had always been cool–headed, but hearing those words from him made something flutter in her chest.
Before she could say anything more, Jacob’s expression shifted. His voice became a little more serious, though still warm: “Come find me after school.”
