Chapter 6
A few minutes later, the receptionist replaced the chair, and June settled in quietly, turning her attention to the latest design drafts from the company.
She flipped through the pages, her brows knitting together, a look of genuine concern etching her face. ‘Did a professional really crank these s**ts out?’ she wondered, scanning the signatures at the bottom before s*ing up the phone to call the design department. “I need Anna Leign in my office, now.”
Soon after, Anna Leign strutted into the office, decked out in a flashy red suit, her perfume smacking June in the face as she walked in.

necklace-seriously? The colors are all over the place, and it’s missing that spark. You really think this s**t will fly with the client?”
necklace, pulled out a design draft and went straight for the jugular. “This
Caught off guard, Anna stood frozen. She knew this piece had been sent back several times with feedback similar to June’s. Despite the client’s unexpected patience and even their willingness to pay extra for the perfect result, Anna was defiant, convinced that June had merely lucked into spotting a few minor issues.
Flicking her freshly done nails, Anna shot back with a dismissive air, “Ms. Keller, I designed exactly what the client asked for. There shouldn’t be any freaking issues.”
June kept her poker face, methodically circling the blunders on the draft with a pencil. “Look here the basic setup of this necklace is all wrong, the diamonds are a hot mess, and these details…” She rattled off the shortcomings using the jargon of the trade.
As June laid it out, Anna’s arrogance began to deflate, though she still clung to the notion that June was just skimming the surface, nowhere near her level as the head designer.
“Ms. Keller, I don’t see a d** thing wrong with my design. If you’ve got such a big problem with it, step up and show me what you’ve got. You might be the new boss, but down here, it’s all about what you can prove. I’ve been in this game for years, and I only bow to real talent,” she snapped with a sneer.
June cracked a faint smile, smoothly drawing a blank sheet of paper from her desk drawer, responding with total composure, “Fine, let’s put your words to the test. Tell me exactly what the client wants for this necklace, and where they plan to flaunt it.”
Anna scoffed. “Big talk for a newbic. Alright then, I’ll spill the client’s demands. Let’s see just how much game you really have.”

June remained silent, simply arching an eyebrow to prompt Anna to keep talking.

“The client is gifting this necklace to his first love. It’s gotta capture their rocky ride back together, symbolizing their pure, rock-solid love. So it needs to be a unique, jaw-dropping piece.” Anna paused, then scoffed. “There, I’ve laid it out. Over to you, Ms. Keller. But honestly, can you handle such complex s**t? Want me to break it down more for you?”
June pulled a sheet of drafting paper from her drawer. “No need. Give me ten minutes, and I’ll whip up a draft.”
Ten minutes?’ Anna’s eyes popped in astonishment. ‘Even the seasoned pros at our firm wouldn’t dare guarantee a draft so quickly. She thinks she can pull it off? B**it!”
Anna settled in to watch the disaster unfold, a smirk barely concealed in her eyes. “Alright then, draw. I’ll stand here and watch the magic happen.”
June picked up a pencil and began to sketch. Her smooth lines quickly shaped into a draft of a necklace.
