Chapter 1
“Kane,” June Keller whispered, her voice tinged with a mixture of hope and anxiety. “Let’s have a baby.”
As she spoke, her hand involuntarily reached for Kane Leonard’s belt buckle, her fingers lightly touching it with a soft “click.” But as she moved to take things further, Kane quickly grabbed her hand, putting a stop to her actions.
“We need to get a divorce,” Kane said, his voice low and devoid of emotion, chilling like an fcy knife that struck right at June’s heart.
June stood rooted to the spot, her eyes wide with shock and disbelief. She looked into Kane’s face, searching for answers. “Why? Because I brought up having a baby? I was just kidding. If
you…
“Enough of this b**hit, June,” Kane snapped, his voice as cold as the winter wind, cutting her off. “Do you really not remember why we got married in the first place?”
June certainly hadn’t forgotten. Three years ago, she had gone out of her way to hire a top- notch doctor to save Kane’s grandmother, who had taken a liking to her and forced them into marriage.
“Three years,” June murmured softly, still clinging to a sliver of hope for some tenderness in his reply. “And you’ve felt nothing for me?”
Kane just stared back at her silently. After a moment, he pulled out a document from a drawer-it was a divorce agreement he had ready to go.
June’s heart felt like it had been skewered. Staring at the cold, impersonal document, she was overwhelmed with unspeakable pain.
Seeing her still hesitating, Kane grew impatient. Jocelyn is pregnant,” he stated flatly.
June’s face crumpled in disbelief, tears welling up as she looked up at him, stunned. ‘What? Jocelyn, his high school sweetheart, is pregnant? she thought.
A torrent of anger, humiliation, and grief surged through June, nearly suffocating her. She had never imagined that all her years of sacrifice and waiting had led to this-a defeat by Kane’s long-time sweetheart, Jocelyn Gregory.
Pathetic? Or maybe just f**ng ridiculous. June scoffed bitterly, her laugh filled with bitterness and resignation.

you need, and as long as it’s reasonable, I’ll sort it out,” Kane declared, standing by the bed with an unmistakable air of arrogance, as if he owned everything, his demeanor causing June a pang of pain.
June’s expression was pale, a bitter smile playing on her lips. She shook her head firmly. “Thanks, but I don’t want anything.”
“Lakesie Villa is yours, and I’ll throw in 10 million as compensation,” Kane offered.
“I said I don’t need anything.” June asserted, her voice firm, tired of the pointless back-and- forth.
She picked up the divorce papers and signed her name without hesitation. Quickly gathering her belongings, she grabbed her suitcase and headed for the villa’s door.
As she reached for the door, Kane’s voice cut through the silence from behind her. “Hope you and Joe find happiness together.”
That unexpected blessing rooted June to the spot. She whirled around, eyes wide with disbelief, and snapped, “How do you know Joe?”
Nonchalantly, Kane shrugged. “Last time you were sick, you wouldn’t stop babbling his
name.
The image of Joe Hodges’ familiar, handsome face flashed in her mind, a sweet memory now tinged with pain. A bitter smile tugged at her lips as she retorted, “Well, best of luck to you. and Jocelyn. May you be blessed with a bunch of kids.”
Without looking back, June left behind the home they once shared.
Walking down the deserted street, June was swamped by a wave of desolation. She pulled out her phone and dialed a number she hadn’t touched in three years.
“Dwayne, I want to come home,” she choked out tears threatening to spill.
“Don’t cry, June. I’ve got you. Where are you? I’m on my way.” His voice came through, warm
and firm.
Half an hour later, the sky was alive with the roar of helicopters. June looked up as a dozen helicopters swooped down gracefully like giant birds.
As the doors flew open, a squad of bodyguards in black suits dashed out, moving with military precision towards her. They assembled neatly in front of her and bowed in sync.

June nodded slightly, barely acknowledging the formal display. Her gaze pierced through the ranks of bodyguards to the ***on.
Sensing her focus, they quickly parted, forming a clear path.
Down this path, a dashing man in a navy suit approached briskly. It was her eldest brother, Dwayne Keller.
Standing tall and dignified, he exuded a gentle yet crisp demeanor. As he approached June, his eyes sparkled with a mix of delight and tenderness. He murmured affectionately, “Hey, June…
