In the private room of the restaurant, Sarah gently served food to Julius, her actions tender and attentive, and occasionally, she would help him wipe his mouth.
Arthur, however, seemed distracted. Sarah watched him, hesitated, and then asked, “Arthur, you said you’d divorce Charlotte. Is that true?”
Hearing this, Arthur glanced up at her, and when he saw her face, thoughts of the past stirred up a sudden irritation in hist

now.”
She felt he didn’t want a divorce!
She creamed in her mind, “No, this couldn’t happen. If he doesn’t divorce, I will lose everything!”
She bit her lip and said, “Arthur, if you’ve fallen for her, then go ahead and live with her. As for the promise you made to me, I’ll pretend it never happened.”
As she spoke, her eyes reddened, and a tear slipped down her cheek as if she were bearing a deep injustice but struggling to keep it together.
She appeared fragile and pitiable.

Arthur said, “I haven’t forgotten. Since I promised you, I will keep my word.”
Sarah sniffed; her eyes lit up with hope as she looked at him. “Really?”
“Sure.”
Arthur nodded briefly. His gaze dropped, hiding the swirling thoughts behind his eyes.

He thought, “Since I don’t love Charlotte, I should divorce her.
Now, I get an heir to the Harrison family.
Since I’ve made a promise, I should fulfill it.
Charlotte had been hoping for a divorce for so long… I should. give her what she wanted. After all, she had indeed done her job as Mrs. Harrison quite well these five years.”
That was his reasoning, but deep inside, an inexplicable frustration and gloom stirred in his chest. His face turned
colder.
Julius listened carefully to their conversation, his eyes lowering slightly. He realized that his dad was going to divorce his mom, and Sarah would become his new mom.
He felt that Sarah would surely be better than Charlotte, and Sarah was the kind of mom he wanted.
Chapter 53 A Man of His Words When Charlotte returned home, her phone rang.

Jayce sent her a message: [Is it a good time?]
Charlotte replied: [It’s fine. Where are you? I’ll come find you.]
Jayce was someone who knew her secret, and she needed to keep him on her side. She absolutely couldn’t let him leak it!
Jayce sent over an address, and Charlotte saw that it was a restaurant. She drove straight there.
By the time she arrived, the sky had already darkened. Jayce had booked a private room.
She entered and found him sitting in a chair, his head slightly bowed. Under the dim light, his face looked pale, his features. delicate and sharp. He pressed his lips together, exuding a brooding aura.
“Mr. Caldwell.”
Charlotte walked over, greeting him with a smile and pushing a box toward him. “These are my improved version. They help with sleep and also regulate emotions. If you ever feel restless, just light one of these incense sticks.”
Jayce’s gaze lingered on the box for a moment, then followed her hand to her face.
“Why are you lying to him?”
His voice was deep and magnetic, but there was something dry

about it, and it was lacking warmth, sounding empty.

Charlotte replied, “Because I’m about to divorce him. I will soon be cut off ties with him, so I don’t want him to know this.”
Jayce stared at her unblinkingly. His eyes were deep and mysterious, the mole beneath his eye adding a chilling edge to his gaze.
Charlotte felt uneasy under his scrutiny. She clenched her fingers and asked, “Are you going to tell him?”
She knew Jayce had known Arthur since they were kids. Their bond was certainly stronger than what she had with Jayce. She felt Jayce might tell Arthur about her secret.
That would be disastrous to her.
