Chapter 36 Filling the Emptiness
Arthur lifted his gaze, and the moment his
eyes landed on her, he froze.
Ever since she left Rose Villa, the house had felt cold and empty. The servants were the same, the decorations unchanged, but without her, it just didn’t feel right.
He hadn’t really paid it much mind before. But now, he found himself unwilling to return.
He had come back this time because of Julius, hoping that bringing him here would restore the warmth they once had. But it was still lacking.

Chapter 36 Filling the Emptiness That was until Charlotte appeared. She casually sat on the sofa, fiddling with her phone, but somehow, the house seemed to change.
Her presence seemed to fill the emptiness, like the coldness had been
chased away.
Arthur looked her up and down, a strange feeling rising in his chest.
She still had her long, wavy hair and delicate makeup, her eyes and brows carefully done, with red lips that made
her look even more vibrant. She wore a
black off–shoulder dress that reached her knees, exposing her slender legs.
She was striking, even more so than before.

She was nothing like the image he remembered, and it left him with an uncomfortable feeling.
“Go make dinner,” Arthur said coldly, his voice low and detached.
“Huh?” Charlotte looked up at him, puzzled. “What are you talking about? Didn’t you ask me to come here to sign the divorce papers?”
She let out a dry laugh, irritated.
Was she really being treated like a maid
now?
Arthur’s gaze fell on the papers on the table. The words “divorce agreement” felt strangely sharp under his eyes.
His expression darkened even more. “I
Chapter 36 Filling the Emptiness need to eat before I can sign.”
Charlotte frowned, her annoyance growing. “Are you seriously this weak now? I never would’ve guessed it. You need to take some medicine.”
Arthur’s grip on the tablet tightened. He was certain she was doing this on
purpose.

Charlotte’s eyes were cold, and her voice matched the chill. “Arthur, are you messing with me again? Does it make you feel good to toy with me? Did I really know you were this terrible back then?”
Each word felt like a dagger, striking deep
into his chest.
Arthur’s eyes flared with fury, and his face grew even colder. “You want a divorce,

right? Fine. But you’ll do it on my terms. If I’m satisfied, then maybe I’ll consider it.”

Charlotte glared at him, her contempt obvious. “What was I thinking back then? How could I have fallen for someone like you?”
“Charlotte!” Arthur bellowed, clearly seething with anger.
Charlotte’s heart skipped a beat, but she showed no fear. She shot back, “Sign it already. The sooner you do, the more like a man you’ll look.”
Arthur’s rage boiled over, but to her
surprise, he smiled darkly. Slowly, he set the tablet down and fixed his gaze on her, his eyes unreadable.

Charlotte immediately tensed. Was he about to lose it?
Just then, in the tense silence of the room, Julius suddenly coughed into his hand. Moments later, tears welled up in his eyes, and he looked utterly pitiful.
Charlotte’s heart twisted. She quickly squeezed her fingers to keep her expression in check.
Arthur handed Julius a glass of water, and after he drank, feeling a little better, he turned to Charlotte. “You’ve lost
your
memory, but you’re still his mother. What’s wrong with making him a meal?”
So, Julius hadn’t eaten yet.
Charlotte tried to push the sting in her
heart aside, forcing herself to focus on the

situation at hand.
