As soon as Emerie passed by me, my gaze fixated on Mr. Lab.
He took a step back, the fear returning to his eyes as he watched me warily, pushing his hands forward.
“Please! I did everything you asked. I won’t say a word! I swear on my honor!”
I arched a brow at that.
His honor?

He looked to Emerie for help, before sighing. “I swear on the Moon Goddness. May the gods strike me dead if I utter a word of your escape.”
I leaned forward, my teeth bared in a snarl. “It won’t be the gods that come for you, Baldy. It will be me and you wouldn’t want that to happen, would you?”
The man shook his head enthusiastically. “No, ma’am.”
I straightened. “Good. Now show me where the knives are.”
Mr. Lab sprang forward, leading me to his kitchen. There, I took a decent amount of knives and had them strapped to my waist.
Satisfied, I walked away from him and out the door. Then I followed Emerie down several corridors until we reached a corner. She stopped and turned to me with raw fear in her eyes. There are about four guards at the door,”
I peeked and saw four hefty men, clad in black, standing with assault rifles.
“… and if we go downstairs, we will see some more at the entrance to the cells. That’s about it so far…unless…”
I frowned. “Unless what?”
Emerie sighed. “Unless we count the guards in the inner chamber where another prisoner is kept. No one knows who it is and I am not sure if they should be saved because it seems they are extra dangerous and they’ve been here before we came.”
I wondered who it was.
Giving Emerie a curt nod, I closed my eyes and dragged out a long breath. My wolf stirred, and that familiar urge to hunt and taste more blood surged within me. I shook my head. I really didn’t want to ruin my clothing again, so I urged my wolf to make do with weapons.
She didn’t like that, but she reluctantly agreed.
When I opened my eyes again, I found Emerie watching me with renewed wariness and fear.
Leaving the corner, I made myself known to the guards on watch, immediately catching their attention. My hair fell forward as I put on the persona of a drunk girl, leaning against the wall and wobbling on my

I replied with a giggle, closing the distance between us.

“Must be one of the King’s many concubines.” Another guard muttered, a hint of bitterness in his tone as he approached. “He’s always fucking a new girl every week.”
As soon as he gripped my arm, I wanted to slice his throat, but let him shove me forward, towards the corner I just came out from. I let out another giggle as he shoved me yet again, rougher than the first time.
“What? You like that?” His tone was harsh as he gripped my arm gain and as soon as we rounded the corner, I discovered Emerie had gone into hiding like we planned.
Now, I expected Mr. Macho here to lead me further, but instead, he pushed my face against the wall and grabbed my butt.
“Fucking stars. Look at that ass!” He mumbled before slapping it and I let out that giggle again. This time, I heard the amusement in his voice. “You like that, don’t you, bitch? How about my cock in you, then?”
His hands grabbed my waist roughly and when they felt the knives there, he paused.
Ah, crap.
In that split–moment, I pulled out the knife next to my stomach, whipped around, and rammed it into his throat. His eyes widened before they fell to mine and I saw fear stoking the dying light in his eyes.
I yanked out the knife, and his choking filled the air as he went down on his knees with a dull thud, before falling over to the ground, dead.
“Dude, you alright?” Another guard called, and I quickly pulled off the gun on the dead man’s body.
“Stanley’s probably having his way with her.” Another man chuckled.
“That’s not fair. I want some action too.” The first guy replied, and I realized his voice was getting closer.
Standing close to the corner, I aimed the rifle and when a dark–skinned man came around, he only had a millisecond to react before I blew his brains out.
“Oh, shit!” Someone exclaimed, but I was moving faster than they were prepared for and within seconds, I had both men down.
I listened for their heartbeats while standing over them, but before I could call out to Emerie. I heard footsteps rushing up the stairs beyond the door that was being watched.
Of course.
The gunshots had been loud. They will certainly attract attention
Dammit!
Moving quick, I grabbed one more assault rifle and wore it around my shoulder before rushing behind the door to hide. I mentally kicked myself for not using knives, but then, I didn’t want to get blood on this nice pink sweat set.
Oh well.
I heard the click of a lock, and then the door opened, and I held my breath.
As soon as he saw the dead bodies, the first person to arrive immediately brought out his weapon, and I just knew he would

be mindlinking all the security in the area. A second person followed, and then a third.
“Holy shit! The third guy exclaimed, and when a face peered behind the door, I pulled the trigger.
The others wasted no time in firing shots at me.
My breath hitched.

Time slowed as about a dozen bullets flew with great speed towards me. With barely enough time to react, I dove out of the way, grunting as my shoulder connected with the stone floor.
Within a second, time came back to normal, and these soldiers were aiming for me again!
Half sitting in a crunch, I fired the rifle in a spray–like manner a Half sitting in a crunch, I fired the rifle in a spray–like manner and blood splattered in the air as their bodies jerked to the array of bullets I sent their way. Their bodies crumpled to the ground, and my ears rang as I was left a panting mess.
I looked down at my sweats and groaned at the bloodstains on it.
The distant echo of more footsteps coming up the stairs made me alert again.
“Emerie?” I–called, rising to my feet and the blonde easterner came out of the shadows, her body trembling.
“There are more soldiers coming from the West wing.” She said, meaning we were about to be surrounded.
I removed the keys and phone from my pocket and gave them to her. “Stay behind me and shut the door.” I ordered, and she nodded before grabbing a rifle from one of the dead bodies.
I looked at her, puzzled for a moment.
“My dad was a Gamma for the Crown in the East. He taught me how to shoot before a Windermere had him killed.” Emerie stated, making something familiar and unpleasant twist in my gut.
Something I didn’t want to acknowledge.
With a nod, I went in first and as Emerie closed the basement door behind us, I couldn’t help the damning thought that Emerie had lost her father because of me.
Forcing the thought to the back of my mind, I primed my ears, taking in my surroundings.
The steps leading down to the dungeons were made of stone and illuminated by torches. They went down in a spiral form, winding out of sight, and as the footsteps grew closer, I motioned to Emerie to stay still.
The moment I saw the first shadow, I raised the rifle and waited till about five men turned the
corner.
Luckily for me, for the first few seconds, they were focused on rushing up the stairs, so I gladly lit them up and they barely had any chance of defense as they fell over themselves.
I waited to hear more and for a moment, all I could hear were heartbeats, both strong active ones and the weak dying ones. I went down another step, communicating with my eyes to Emerie. Someone was hiding around the corner.
Suddenly, something yanked on the door above and when it didn’t budge, someone banged on it.
Emerie and I shared a look and in that split second, the person hiding turned the corner and fired a shot. Thunder echoed and my body jerked backwards, a blazing fire burning through my shoulder.

I cried out before moving out of the way to the opposite side, dodging another bullet in time.
I pressed my hand on the wound, my breath coming in pants.

“Are you okay?!” Emerie exclaimed, trying to check me, but she jerked as the pounding at the basement door turned into violent kicks.
“What do we do?” Emerie’s voice shook, turning to me.

My wolf stirred and as I watched my hands grow into long, razor sharp claws, I sighed. “All you have to do is stay out of her way.” I whispered, before losing consciousness again.
