Chapter 183 

THEON 

I poured two white pills onto my palm. 

This is the recommended amount of medication I should be taking for my weak wolf but I poured two more and then another two before throwing them to the back of my throat and wallowing hard. 

Afterwards, I drank a bottle of water to push it all down.

I have been trying my best to get back to the way I was before…before my father shot me. According to Healer Kwan it would take months, if not, more than a year to fully recover. 

I don’t have a year. 

I have to mark Ryn. I have to save my brother and I have to challenge my father for the throne. I have to defeat Dominic and get revenge for my sister. 

I have a lot riding on my shoulders and I cannot afford to let anybody down, especially the two people I care about the most. 

“I am coming with you.” 

I froze before turning around to face my stubborn, little mate. She was already dressed in a short black dress with her hair in a high ponytail braid and smokey eyes that made the silver in it seem like it was glowing. 

Standing in stilettos, Ryn was a dangerous seductress and as she slid her gown up and shoved a small three inch knife in a black garter strap around her thigh, the sudden urge to rip that dress enveloped me. 

I shook my head. “You’re not going anywhere.” 

“Theon, don’t do this again.” Ryn groaned. 

Irritation seared through me. “Think of it, Ryn. You are the sole heir to an inheritance which my father and his friends stole and you think walking right into their lair is a good idea?” 

Ryn grabbed a gun from the counter and shoved the ammo in it within seconds showcasing the precision of a killer. “I can take care of myself.” 

Does this woman know what she’s doing to me? 

“Fine.” I sighed, not having the strength to argue with her. “But you stay by my side at all times. Got it?” 

“Yes, Commander.” 

Hours later, we were driven through some estate gates and down a long driveway to a spectacular modern building overlooking the sea. The modern building was made of glass and right from outside, I could see the party going on inside. 

Ryn and I shared a glance and as she fell into step with me, her fingers brushed my hand. 

Instinctively, I opened my hand and took her fingers in mine. Something about this act made me feel at ease and soothed my anxiety. Somehow, being with her makes me feel…safe. 

The moment we entered, the air shifted. 

All eyes turned on us and although I knew these people all my life and was practically what most would call a Nepo baby, I felt out of place. 

Chapter 183 

For the first time in my life, I didn’t feel like I belonged with the rich and the elite, and for me, that was okay. 

To my right, Ryn walked with her head held high, ignoring the listasteful glares sent her way by the women who think they have a claim to me. 

I smiled to myself, choosing to also ignore the others who cast judgmental stares my way. 

According to the card, I was instructed to find the door on the cast end of the house, so that’s what I did and once the guard there saw us, he opened the doors. 

Walking in, I entered a small room that had a casino like setting and there I found my father sitting on a couch with the men from the inner circle. 

They seemed to be in the process of playing poker when I came in. 

My father raised his head and when his eyes landed on Ryn, his expression soured. 

“I didn’t ask you to bring her.” 

“Why Finnegan?” Ryn piped up beside me. “Too scared to look the girl you stole from in the eye?” 

The room tensed, and I immediately pulled Ryn behind me as my father rose to his feet. 

“You better put your bitch on a leash!” He snarled and I snarled back. 

“You better watch your 

mouth!” 

My father’s eyes flashed in surprise, then his eyes narrowed. “Or what?” A sly smile curved his lips. “You’re weak now, Theon. You’re practically useless.” 

Before I could feel the weight of his words, a shot rang out and before I knew it, the King jerked back. Chaos erupted and as each inner circle man pulled out his weapon, I looked to the side and found Ryn standing erect in that sinful black gown, holding her gun in front of her. 

It suddenly dawned on me that Ryn was the one who fired the shot and when I looked at my father, I realized her bullet had grazed his cheek and pierced his right ear. 

“YOU SHOT ME?!” My father bellowed, gripping his ear which had begun to bleed through his hand. “HOW DARE YOU?!” “Talk shit about my mate again and I swear by the Goddess, the next one will go through your face!” 

I blinked in surprise, realizing we were surrounded with men pulling their guns on us. Immediately, I pulled Ryn behind me, covering her body with mine. 

“Don’t shoot!” I declared. 

“Why shouldn’t we?” Mr. Caines asked nervously. 

“I’ll give you a good reason.” Ryn spoke up. “Surrounding us are hundreds of mutants. If my mate and I don’t walk out of here alive in the next twenty minutes, they will swarm this place and they will rip every single one of you apart!” 

Silence settled on us all, deadly and unsettling. 

“Is that a good enough reason?” 

“Stand down, everyone.” I declared. “Now!” 

Guns dropped and so did Ryn’s.

Chapter 183 

I faced my father. “Where’s my brother?” 

“On his way.” He growled, taking a napkin to dab his cheek, and fold around his ear. 

1 blinked at his straight forward answer. “Last time we spoke, you were supposed to surrender the throne to me. I won it fair and square.” 

“Yeah, well. I’ll surrender only if you fight me for it.” 

This bastard. “That was not the deal.” 

“Well, you should have known better than to trust your father.” 

All I could do was look at him and shake my head in disappointment. Why did I expect that he would conduct himself in an honourable way when he practically just stole from my mate for years. 

“Fine. I’ll fight you.” 

“Good.” The King smiled. “But since I am an old man, I have decided to choose someone else to fight on my behalf.” 

Somehow I knew where this was going. My father can be cruel like that. “Who?” 

Suddenly, the door opened behind us and my father’s eyes shifted behind me. His smile deepened. “Ahhh, there he is. Man of the hour.” 

As soon as he said that, my wolf paced restlessly and I turned to see my twin walk around us to stand beside my father. He was dressed in a suit, and he looked impossibly bigger and more handsome than the last time I saw him. 

I half expected this to happen but still I wasn’t prepared for the ice cold glare of my brother or the intense rage that seemed to simmer within him towards me. 

“Are you okay, Dad?” Miro asked, as he saw the blood running from his ear. 

My father’s face turned morose. “I’m not, Son. Your brother’s witch just shot me.” 

Miro’s eyes turned red as he looked my way, and spotted Ryn behind me. 

Suddenly he was standing before me, his sharp teeth bared. “Get out of my way!” He snarled. 

“No. You’re making a terrible mistake, Ro.” 

“Son, leave her alone. She’s not worth it.” My father faked a weary voice, but his son did not budge. Instead, he locked eyes with me. 

“How can you let a woman wrap you around her finger this way?” He sneered. 

“Trust me, when you see her, you’ll understand.” I replied and then, I stepped away, letting Miro come face to face with Ryn. 

I watched his eyes glaze to her, and then I watched as they glowed a rich yellow. 

Suddenly, Miro winced as he took a step back like he was having a bad migraine. 

“What’s wrong, Twinnie?” I asked, amused. “You okay?” 

“It can’t be.” He muttered quietly, while Ryn stared up at him through her lashes. “It’s you.”
