Chapter 139
THEON
As soon as Chelsea arrived, Miro found somewhere else to be.
I wished they got along but right now Chelsea’s happiness was my priority.
Rising on her toes, Chelsea clung to me and made a show of kissing me so everyone around could see.
I hated that, but I couldn’t help myself. Refusal is pain, and I just needed a break from the thousands of needles stabbing my scalp. After our kiss, I looked Ryn’s way and saw her demeanor change when she saw Chelsea.
I have to do something.
I can’t trigger Ryn, and I can’t offend Chelsea, either.
“Would
you love for us to go to the bar and get some drinks?” I asked her. At least that way, they both don’t need to eye–stab each other.
“Actually, no,” she said, clinging to me tighter as she glared Ryn’s way. “I like us staying here.”
“Of course.” I smiled. “Anything you want, my love.”
“Anything?” She asked, and I instantly became wary.
“Yes, my
love.”
“When are you going to expel her?”
I stiffened. “My love, I wish I could, but according to rules, Ryn has to do something really offensive for me to expel her immediately. Without that, I stand at a risk of a lawsuit.”
“Oh. I didn’t know that.”
“Now you do, my love.” I said, kissing the back of her hand. She seemed really satisfied by that, which in turn made me breathe a sigh of relief.
Just then, the doors opened, and I saw Olive Verena walk in with his entourage.
He was an Alpha Prince, with platinum blonde hair shaved in a low buzz cut. Tall like me and similarly built in stature, Olive had grey eyes and features that made women instantly swoon.
I watched him saunter in, basking in the attention the ladies gave him. Then I saw my brother cross the room to meet him halfway and welcome him.
Naturally, that was the duty of a Prince – to welcome a diplomat, but I was feeling a little arrogant and miffed about my ribs which he broke during our last fight. So instead of approaching him, I left Chelsea’s side and stood at a corner not far from him nor the high table.
I watched Miro shake his hand as they exchanged pleasantries and I was content being in the background just watching, but then Olive saw me and approached.
Ahh. Fuck.
“Finally, we meet again.” He said with a heavy accent before landing a hand on my shoulder. “How are you, friend?”
I closed my eyes for a quick second, hating his touch. “Welcome to the West, Verena.”

“Good to see you. How’s your ribs, ch?”
“Better than your face? I see you got surgery to reconstruct your jaw?”
“Cost me millions.” He nodded without malice or anger. “all thanks to you. I want a rematch, though.”
Before I could reply, my father came down from the high table where he sat with the other elites.
“Ahhh. That’s the man of the hour,” He said with his arms outstretched and Olive bowed in respect before entering his embrace.
“Pleasure to finally make it back here.” Olive said, before they pulled apart.
They exchanged pleasantries and afterward, we all went to the high table to sit.

Here at the table, the most elite couples sat down, including myself and my brother and Dutton. Then everyone got engaged in conversation, but I remained silent and watched.
After talking some more and exchanging small talk about trivial things, my father went straight to the point.
“So, Verena, how are you preparing for the game with my son?”
Olive looked at Miro nonchalantly. “I was hoping to be up against a more notable fighter.” He said, glancing my way. Immediately, I felt heat flare up through our twin bond. I glanced at Miro, seeing his calm expression but down our bond, he was seething.
Haced Olive. “We’ve had our match.” I replied.
“Yes, but I want to go again.”
I stared at him with a bored expression. “I am retired. I have trained my brother. You really should not underestimate him.“,
Olive opened his mouth to say something, but my father interjected. “You really shouldn’t underestimate my son. I have a feeling he will win against you in the upcoming match.”
Olive rubbed his chin thoughtfully. “I know you want me to fight your son so he can be one step closer to beating Dominic. But what if I told you you’re wasting your time? We’ve found a sure proof way to kill Dominic and take over the North.”
Everyone perked up. Miro and I shared a glance and a dangerous glint shone in my father’s eye.
“Tell us. What is it?”
“Ahhhh.” Olive smiled, “that’s the thing, my king. This is a top secret of Southern Intelligence. I am in charge of the team
nd our plan is well underway.”
Then let us join you.” My father pressed, shifting forward in his seat. “You can have our elites at your disposal. In all our
down.” missions, we have an eighty–seven percent success rate. We won’t let you
Olive leaned back in his seat, his eyes moving in thought. “I’ll have to think about this. Lean’t just let you come onboard without something in return.”
“Then what can we offer you in return?” My father’s eyes shimmered with desire. “Anything you want? I believe as long as it’s within my power, then I can grant it to you.”
I watched Olive look everyone in the eye before shaking his head at my father. “I’m sorry, my King. There’s nothing I need at the moment. Besides, Dominic has taken a lot from the South. It’s only befitting that I kill him.”
“He murdered my daughter.” My father said with a forceful tone, his gaze reflecting a hidden pain within. “Trust me, no one
else wants him dead more than me.”

The air settled with a strange silence at my father’s outburst.

He decided to comport himself. “So, please tell us what you know about Dominic. Bring us onboard so we can work together to bring him down.”
“Fine. What can you offer me in return?”
“What are your terms?”
Olive sighed and looked around, then he paused, his eyes snagging on something.
“The gods be damned.” He spoke in awe. “Who is that beauty?”
Everyone turned, including me, to see Ryn in the distance standing next to Sadie while laughing at a random man’s joke.
First of all, who the fuck is that guy?
Secondly, I turned around on Olive. “Take your eyes off her. She’s off limits.” I stated.
“Is she mated?”
I didn’t reply.
“No. She’s not.” My father answered. “But she’s trouble.”
“I like trouble.” Olive smirked, looking her away. “Trouble keeps me on my toes.”
“She’s off limits.” I stated again and Olive’s brow arched.
“Why?”
“She’s an Elite in training.” I explained.
“Doesn’t matter. I want her.”
Miro and I shared a glance, then my father entered my mind. “Take it easy with Olive. He’s our guest and we have to make him happy.
I met my father’s eyes. “I will not participate in trafficking a were–being.”
Then I faced Olive. “You can’t ‘have‘ her. She’s not a commodity
“I know.” Olive replied. “That’s why I’d like for you to help me talk to her parents so we can arrange something.”
“She’s an orphan and has no guardian.” My father interjected, sending me a warning glare.
“That’s perfect. I want to have a talk with her.”
“As her commander, I remain her ultimate guardian, and I say she’s off limits.”
“She just turned twenty.” Aunt Lydia chimed in. “She’s no longer a child.”
I sent her a glare.
“It seems you care a lot about this girl.” Olive stated as his grey eyes slid to mine and a sly smile curved his lips. “Tell you what?” He said, rubbing his chin and I curled my hands into fists, dreading what he was about to say. “Give her to me and I will tell you everything you need to know about how to kill Dominic.”
