Ryland rushed Amanda through the hospital doors, and he was completely hysterical. After some time creaming at the back of the car, Amanda had gone quiet, and there were little to no vitals. “Someone help!” he yelled. Once the nurses saw Ryland carrying Amanda’s limp body into the hospital, they quickly attended to her.
Amanda was placed on a hospital bed and was wheeled into a room in which Ryland could not enter. Once Amanda was out of sight, Ryland felt as if his entire world had fallen apart.
“It is all going to be okay,” Ryland turned to look at his mother, even though she appeared to be handling things quite well, Ryland could see that his mother was just as worried as he was.
Ryland waited in the waiting room for what felt like forever since Amanda had been wheeled into the private room where he did not have access to her. The entire time, he walked up and down the lenght of the waiting room and impatiently waited for a doctor to come out, but there was nothing. Even his mother noticed that he was nervous. His mother had tried to force him to calm down, but that was not enough for Ryland. He needed Amanda close to him.
Ryland could not understand what had gone wrong. One moment, both himself and Amanda had been conversing with each other, he had a gone to fetch water for her-and then she was screaming profusely, holding her hand over her swollen belly, and crying.
“My son calm down,” his mother tried to calm him once again.
“Mother, I cannot come down; my wife is not feeling well, and I have no access to her at this point. Anything can happen to her of the baby, so yes, I cannot be calm,” he answered his mother anxviosly.
Ryland continued walking up and down nervously while his mother watched him. Her hear broke for her son, seeing him in such a mess, like he had been six years ago, but back then it was all due to Sofie.
The doors came wide open, and Ryland immediately walked towards the doctor, with his mother following behind him. Standing over the doctor with his wide frame, Ryland towered over the man/ He tried to open his mouth, but he could not get any word out, as he feared that the worst might have happened. The doctor’s facial expression was not very hopeful. “What happened to my wife? Is she and the baby, okay?”
“Honestly, Mr. Scorpio, we will have to wait until she is cleared, roughly in twenty four hours time.” The doctor responded, and this left Ryland confused as to what was going on.
“What do you mean twenty hours? My wife was just okay at the baby shower, and then she fell to the floor,” Ryland explained, hoping that the new information would be clear enough to the doctor in helping him figure out what had happened to Amanda.
“We have pumped her up with a lot of medications, and it is only to make her sleep so that she can get all the rest that she needs. For now, you can actually go see her,” the doctor informed Ryland, but all did not seem well.
Ryland needed to know the truth regarding Amanda and there baby, he definately did not appreciate being lied to.
‘Doctor, I want to know the truth. Why should we wait twenty four hours?” Ryland asked inpatiently because he needed answers and he needed it now. He was determined to bring the entire hospital down to get the truth.
“Okay, sir, I will tell you the truth: while working on your wife, we thought that it was best to extract the baby from her body, but your wife is truly a fighter. After the twenty four hour period, owever, she still needs to come for occasional checkups. But for now, she needs to sleep and not risk herself because the next twenty four hours will most likely take a toll on her.
“Do you perhaps know what caused such a reaction?”Ryland questioned as he tried to get much more clarity, with regard to the medication that was given to her.
“Honestly, sir, if I were to guess what happened here, I’d say that your wife had been poisoned using a liquid drink,” the doctor said. Just then, there was a look of confusion plastered Ryland’s face.

“Poison?” both Ryland and his mother said in unison, as they were truly worsshocked that Amanda had been poisoned at her own baby shower.
“Yes, it seems thatnis what happened. But there is no need to worry, we still have her on observation, and you both can go see her. Please do not disturb her too much because she is on heavy medications,” The doctor instructed them, before turning on his heel and leaving the them.
Both Ryland and his mother had tried to put their heads together and figure out how poison has gotten into the mix of things.
Ryland sank onto the near by chair as he could not make sense of things, that was until his mther touched his shoulder. He turned to look at her and her eyes were filled with tears.
“If only I had been there with her, none of this would have happened, right?”Ryland asked. Hearing her son say such words broke her heart, she could not baer the though of Ryland blaming himself for what had happened to Amanda.
“No, my son, do not say such things. You could not have known that this would have happened,” his mother reasured him, but none of the words she said got throughto him because all Ryland could think about was that he had nearly lost his wife, and all because of a baby shower that he had insisted on throwing her in the first place.
“Mother Amanda did not want a baby shower. I was the one that insisted that she throw one, and look, now she’s here fighting for her life,” he said softly. Ryland had already made up his mind that he was to blame for this.
“I know that you blamed yourself, but we need to go to a room and see Amanda. We need to reassure Amanda that we are always here for her and that she doesn’t need any other family members but as,” his mother responded.
Once inside Amanda’s hospital room, Ryland could not control his tears any longer as he allowed them to roll down his cheek. He felt guilty that he had not been there to protect both Amanda and the baby. He reached for her soft hand and still Amanda was not responding to him.
“Hey, my love, I’m here, and I’ll make sure that nothing happens to you,” he whispered to Amanda but she did not respond and he knew that that would be the case eventually. Ryland sat next to Amanda for a few minutes more, conversing with her until he ultimately gave up because it was becoming obvious that there was not going to be any miracles. All Ryland felt was disapointment as he saw Amanda just laying there and not moving.
“We need to find out who was poisoned Amanda,” Ryland said to his mother, and it was then that his mother too realized what a smart idea it was. She quickly turned her attention to her son and thought of ways to achieve this.
“It might have been one of the guests that was jealous of the fact that you are building a race track and therefore they wanted to harm Amanda, and the baby to get to you?” His mother said, as she felt like she had her lightbulb moment.
“What if it was someone at the party who poisoned Amanda?” Ryland questioned, but his mother shook her head from left to right.
“No, my son, I doubt that that was the case. Look, I had only invited a few people, and security was tight to avoid the crowd.” his mother explained.
“What are you suggesting mother, that it was Amanda who poisoned herself?” Ryland questioned angrily as he was beginign to get impatient with not getting to the bottom of things.

“I think it is somebody that we know, because there is no absolute way to have this happen to without someone intentionally wanting to harm you.” His mother informed him, and just then Ryland become weary.
“Mother there is footage,” Ryland was quick to say as he thought on his feet.
“Footage? what footage is this?” his mother asked him, confused as to when it was that Ryland had gotten cameras installed in the garden.

possibly poisoned Amanda,” Ryland said. Once those words had left his mouth, Ryland realized the severity of the matter. Someone had actually gone out of their way and posited full well that Amanda was heavily pregnant.
At the mansion

Ryland stood at the center of the control room, and his eyes could not believe what he was seeing on the security screen: a woman that he knew quite well had snuck into the property like a thief, and there was no doubt in his mind that it was here who had poisoned Amanda.
“You animal!” he yelled angrily. Never before had Ryland felt so much anger in his life.
“Sir, should we call the cops?” one of his security guards asked him.
“No, I will handle her myself, and then only will I have her arrested,” he responded coldly.
