Chapter 57
Once again, the relationship between Amanda and her husband had gone sour, and neither had he contacted her regarding what had taken place at the office. Iter instincts were never wrong, and Amanda knew very well that the woman who had been in Ryland’s office earlier had not come for any formal related meeting. The way she dressed certainly was not of a wwwna who had come to discuss business with regards to her husband, even after she left, the smell of her perfume, lingered in the air and it sickened Amanda to her stomach.
Once the altercation had taken place, Amanda had made sure to remind herself where she stood with Ryland, making sure that her heart no longer fell for the stupid games that he played with her mind.
Amanda jumped up, surprise when her door swung open, and she Ryland ed in. He was clearly upset, as the look on his face was of a person who was angry. Amanda quickly stood up from her bed and looked at Ryland directly in his eyes. She could see him breathing heavily and clenching his jaw at the sight of her.
“Pack your bags. We’re leaving in two hours,” He ordered her. Amanda stared at him with a look of confusion sprawled all over her face as she could not understand what he meant
“We’re leaving? for where?” she asked. Just then, Ryland turned his back to her, still holding on to the door handle violently. He then turned face her, and now the two were staring down each other down one another.
“Well, if you want to be a wife, then I’m giving you the opportunity to be a wife. We are going on a honeymoon now,” Ryland informed her, to which Amanda’s eyes grew wide. She could not believe what Ryland was telling her. It had been a month since the two of them had been married, and not once had Ryland mentioned a honeymoon; in fact, when they married, he was completely against the idea of a honeymoon. The marriage was very syraight forward, they were married on paper only and nothing more.
“But I thought that you hated the idea of a honeymoon, what has changed?” She asked him very suspiciously about their sudden departure.
“For your information, I did not plan this entire honeymoon. Okay, my mother recently called to inform me that she had booked a honeymoon trip for us and that I had no way of backing out of it. He told her buttally, and a small part of Amanda’s heart was in pain that Ryland had not planned any of this for her; rather, it was his mother once again playing the part of cupid.
“What if I don’t want to go?” Amanda asked while crossing her hands over a chest, as she was determined to be as stubborn as possible. To her surprise, with just one step Ryland had closed the space between them, and he was looking down at her angrily. There was nothing but hatred in his eyes, more hatred than Amanda had seen him display before.
She watched as Ryland lifted his index finger and pointed it directly to her face, and just then Amanda swallowed the lump in her throat. She knew that Ryland had a bad temper but seeing him like thid made her wonder just how much damage he was capable of.
“Now, I want you to listen here for just this time. I do not want to be bothered with your nuisance, but I will not have you. ruin my reputation in the presence of my family. Do you understand me now! Do not make me say this again. Pack your bags. We have two hours before we leave.” He ordered her before he turned on his heel and walked towards the exit.
“Where are we going?” Amanda asked, but instead of answering, Ryland walked out of a room and slammed the door behind himself. Only once he was gone, did she allow herself to breathe normally, because the old Ryland was back and the way he had spockn to her was a warning to Amanda to thread lightly around him
Not wanting to anger him even more, Amanda began packing her bags, and she packed as much as she could. She did not know where they were going or how long they were going to be on their honeymoon. While packing, Amanda stopped and sat on her bed before rubbing her belly to which the child in her stomach kicked.
While in the car, Amanda marveled at the site before her. Now that she was finally in Bali, she was thrilled at the beautiful sight as their private limousine drove to them throughout the island. Never before had Amanda been on a private jet for

msiters that were startsted pes her job, and now she was here, bid with someone as grumpy as Ryland, She did not know how this hushchy would
Arounds could not contain hes joy so much so that with every new enlorful scenary they passed, the flashed a smile, wberras Ryland sitting next to het was grumpy, and looking donis at his phone and pressing aimlessly. He did not have to turn his head to see that Amanda was happy, lost as he could see her from his peripheral vision, and seeing her smile irked him and let him ferling unseulad
Ryland had not expected the call from his mother, who was quick to inform him that she had made his secetary cancel all his meetings na dreschedule them for afte nthe honeymoon sablone. He had no choice but to go on his honeymoon with he wife, Amanda. Ryland had thought to object to his mother’s demand on several occasions, but he knew very well that a single objection and his mother would know that the marriage between Amanda and himself was completely contractual.
“Can you please stop smiling like that?” He told her irritably while still looking at ti reen on his phone, and once she beard Ryland’s imitated tone of voice, Amanda stopped smiling and rolled up the wadlow of the vehicle.
She was excited as if she was akid in a candy store, and even though she could not openly display her happiness, Arnanda
giggled mwardly.
At the hotel
“What do you mean that there’s only one room available?” Ryland slammed his hand against the reception desk of the five- star hotel. The receptionist at the other end of the desk looked very scared by Ryland’s behavior, and Amanda feared that she could not stop him.
It turns out that the hotel had been fully booked because of the busy season, and Ryland’s mother had booked them a queen-size bed for their honeymoon, and that was all it took to sit him off.
“But, sir. I’m assuming this woman here is your wife, right?” The receptionist asked him, to which Ryland turned his attention towards Amanda and then turned back to look at the receptionist.
“Yes, she is my wife, and your point is?” he asked her.
“Well, if she is your wife and this is your honeymoon, then it is okay for you to share a room and the bed with her.” The receptionist informed him, and just as Ryland was about to open his mouth to argue with her, he bit his tongue once he realised that he could not argue any further. Irrespective of their contractual marriage, they were still leaglly married.
Realizing that he was at his end and that there was no way that he would get another room during such a busy season, Ryland gave in: “Just gave me the keys.” He ordered the receptionist who pulled out a card and then handed them to Ryland before thanking him.
Amanda smiled lightly as she looked at the reception before mouthing a clear Tm sorry in her direction. Not long after, the porter came and took their bags upstairs. They took the elevator yet the entire time both Amanda and Ryland did not speak to one another, acting as though they were two complete strangers.
Once the door to the room was opened, Amanda could not help but marvel at the sight of the beautifully decorated room before them. While Ryland looked unbothered by the beauty of the room. Amanda inspected the room and found that it consisted of a living room, a kitchen, its own room with a bed, covered in red pedals, and the hotel had even provided a basket for them filled with different delicacies, chocolates, and a bottle of wine chilled in a bucket.
“This is beautiful.” She said it out loud before quickly biting her lips. She was still aware of the tension between herself and Ryland, and the last thing he wanted to hear was her voice, and that was something that she was very certain of. Amanda turned her attention to Ryland, who was standing on the balcony, overlooking the ocean, and he looked as though he was deep in thought.
Maybe you should go and speak to him. Amanda thought to herself, and just as she took two steps forward, she stopped and stepped back. The very last thing she wanted to do was anger him more than he already was. The honeymoon had certainly not been his decision, and if there was one thing she knew about Ryland, it was that he hated being forced into doing things he did not like doing. Amanda watched as he stepped away from the balcony, grabbed his wallet, and was about to walk out of the hotel room.

“Where are you going? Amanda was quick to ask, to which Ryland paused and then turned his attention to her. There was no doubt that she was confused; in fact, Ryland could see the confused look on her face as she questioned him.
“I am going out; there’s no need for you to wait for me. If you need anything to eat, just use the phone; everything has been covered. At least, that’s what my mother said.” He informed her, but his answer was not enough to settle the worry in her.
“But this is our honeymoon. You cannot just step out and go to who knows where,” Amanda told him off, but no amount of anger was about to change his mind from doing what he wanted. Ryland simply looked at her from her head to her toes, before flashing a smile in her dorection. Within a second, the smile had disapeared and then within seconds.
“There are days where I think that you are forgetting what this marriage is all about, Amanda. I did not marry you out of love, and the sooner you get that into your head, the sooner it will be good for you. This is my revenge, and I have told you that I will make you pay for what you have done to me.” He told her, before Amanda could strike back at him with her own words, Ryland had already stepped out of the hotel room and shut the door behind himself. Once again he had left Amanda
all alone.
Now that Ryland had left the room, Amanda could not decide whether she was thrilled or unhappy because, now that he was not here, the room was quite peaceful, but the other part of her still had missed Ryland’s presence in the room.
Amanda walked herself into the room, where the bed was still covered in red rose petals, and she sat down, looking at the wall clock. She wondered when Ryland would most likely return back to the hotel. She wanted so much to make herself believe that Ryland had gone out to gather a surprise for her, but knowing how angry he was at the office when she had accused him of cheating, there was no hope that a surprise would be waiting for her anymore.
