Chapter 56
Just as the door to the elevator opened. Amanda paused as she saw a female walking out of Ryland’s office in a haste Amanda’s thoughts quickly spread as she walked after the woman, who was quick to furn around the bend, and just as Amanda arrived there, the wuan was gone, as though she was never in the building in the very first place.
Ansania wanted nothing more than to ask the employees around if they’d seen the same woman she had, but she stopped herself. There was no use involving every other employer who was probably busy with work, and just as she thought about st, she realized that she had no right to dictate their movements inainly because their marriage was done in bad faith.
However much Amanda tried to pretend as though it did not hun her, she could still feel the sting calousy stinging her like a thousand bees descending on her. Sadly, part of her was heartbroken, thinking that Ryland and she had shared something special the previous night only for him to go back to his old ways quickly, reminding Armanda that she did not mean anything to him and that Ryland was not willing to become responsible enough.
“Are you okay, madam?” Amanda quickly snapped out of her head as she furned her attention towards one of the employees. who looked deeply concerned by the worried look on Amanda’s face. Without thinking over her actions, Amanda was quick to say that everything was okay with her, mainly because pretending was a skill that she picked up after living with Ryland for almost a month.
Yes, yes, I am okay. It’s just that I’m pregnant, so my mind thinks and does its own thing” Amanda laughed lightly before walking away. She was angry, yet she did not know how she should approach the situation.
Ryland could not believe how lucky he was, although he admitted that what had occurred between himself and Sophie a few minutes ago was nothing more than a mistake that he would regret deeply when all this was over. He was just getting used the feeling of having Amanda around him as a wife, only for Sophie to walk into his office to ruin it for him. Now, the longer he waited for Amanda, the more nervous he was, and there was no amount of fixing his collar or fixing his shirt that was going to rid him of the guilt he felt deep inside.
Just then, the door opened, and Amanda walked in. Ryland had a bright smile on his face, but upon seeing the look on Amanda’s face, the smile was quickly wiped off. His heart began beating heavily again, and his mind traveled a thousand kilometers per hour, wondering whether Amanda had seen anything out of the ordinary.
“Is everything okay?” Ryland asked as he approached Amanda. Just as he was about to touch her, she pulled her hand away once again. They were once again back to being strangers, and anyone walking in on them could feel the tension in the air. Amanda did not want to look at Ryland in the eyes, fearing that she might see the look of guilt that would confirm that indeed there was a woman in his office. Amanda did not dare think of what had occurred in this office and in her absence.
“I bought you this.” Amanda presented the basket, and the entire time she did not look at Ryland in the face without wanting put up a fight. Ryland took the basket from her, deposited it on his office desk, and began shifting its contents. Even when he tried to converse with Amanda, she did not seem forthcoming

I see that you have bought me pastries, and look, they’re my favorites. He laughed, but still, Amanda did not very same smile. Instead, she was as solid as rocks. This only made Hyland angry as the tension lingered in the air.
One look at Amanda and Ryland, and he began to feel miserable as he realized that once again they were back at stage zero. Amanda and himself were back to being nothing more than strangers, and most importantly, they were now enemies.
“Have I done something wrong? Ryland asked while depositing the pastries on his office desk. Amanda had been shocked. that Ryland had noticed her discomfort around him.
“Who is that woman that walked out of your office?” Amanda asked bluntly, and then Ryland’s heart beat as he went on high alert. He had hoped that Amanda would not have seen so far, but we were surprised that it was too late. Amanda had seen Sophie leave his office.
“It was a client of mine.” Ryland lied as easily as he spoke. Amanda looked at him for some time, and her gut feeling told her not to believe a single word that she said.

Chapter 56
“Since when do your clients walk out the back door in a haste?” Amanda added that she was waiting for Ryland to respond to her question, but instead, he said nothing. Amanda, on the other hand, could see the anger build up in his face.
“I can see that you came here to fight with me, but I will not allow you to get under my skin. I think it’s best for you to go home and relax,” he told her.
“I did not come here to fight; I simply came to give you your lunch, which I had made, but it seems as though you prefer the company of other women. Amanda spit out quite confidently, wow, violent, then red at the site before him.
“Amanda, I think it’s best that you leave my office,” Ryland ordered her, and just then, Amanda’s pupils widened as she could not believe Ryland was kicking her out of his office.
“Fine, then I do not want to disturb you during a little meeting with your clients.” Amanda fired back, making sure that her. knee was just as upset as she was. Not wanting to waste any more time arguing with Ryland, Amanda stopped fighting: she turned around and walked out of the office before slamming the door behind her. Once she was inside the elevator, Amanda felt like crying her eyes out. Just yesterday, she saw a different side of Ryland, and now he was back to his old self, making it known to the world that he was indeed the boss and that he ran things around the office.
Once Amanda had left Ryland in the office alone and he had quickly informed the company secretary that she should cancel all the meetings, he had to reach the secretary later that day,
“Okay, sir, I will do just that. The secretary agreed before exiting Ryland’s office. Ryland threw himself into his office chair, turned, and began looking out his large windows and seeing everyone from different parts of the city enjoying their meals in a very high skyscraper.
“She used me,” Ryland said to himself as he began analyzing Amanda’s behavior. Little by little, he came to the conclusion that Amanda had been entertaining other men when he was not around.
