Spending the night in Amanda’s bed had been the best thing that had happened to Ryland. He had spent the entire day and might looking for Amanda, only to find her in the worst part of town. He blamed himself for putting Amanda in such a situation in the very first place.
Timing his head and looking at Amanda, she was sleeping like a baby who need no disturbance. He watched her unknowingy twist and turn until she resyed her head onto his chest. Irrespective of what he thought of her, Ryan felt that Amanda belonged right next to him.
Acting on his instinct, Ryland kissed Amanda on the forehead. Looking at the wall clock, Ryland groaned as he wanted not to hang more than to skip work. Unfortunately for him, he had a few meetings with a list of possible future investors.
“You are almost late for work” Amanda told him while her eyes were still shut. Ryland smiled at himself for the mere fact that Amanda had remembered that he had an important meeting later that morning.
I know that I have a meeting: I just don’t feel like leaving you at home.
“Your mother is coming to visit later, she informed him while digging her head deeper into his side. She loved feeling the warmth of his body close to her. Amanda stopped smiling as soon as she remembered who the true Ryland was. Just thinking of her made Ryland feel good in his stomach, and for some reason he could no longer connect with the feeling of hate he felt for her before all this.
“I will be back for you, Amnada,” he said under his breath as he was stuccoing in traffic. His phone rang in his pocket, and when he answered it, it was one of his employees informing him that one of the newer possible investors was already at the
office.
*Please inform the investor that I am currently stuck in traffic and that I will be there as soon as possible, Ryland responded before ending the call and taking a short cut to get him to the office on time.
At the office building
Ryland rushed it–not the office buidling–just in time to see the office secretary looking at him with worry in her eyes. Still out of breath from running from his private parking lot and then into the office, Ryland looked into her eyes. “Please tell me that the investor is here, he asked her, and then his secretary smiled.
“Yes, sir, the investor is in your office,” she informed him, and just then, Ryland rushed into the elevator, and once he was out, Ryland rushed to his office.
“Good afternoon, Ryland greeted as he walked to his office, but just as he lifted his head, he froze at his door.

Ti. I see someone is happy to see me? Sofie said. Just then, Ryland could feel the burning rage in his body. He had repeatedly warned Sofie never to step foot in his office or office Building. He had not expected anything less from her. Sofie was both conning and manipulative, which meant that Ryland hard to be weary of her.
Choosing not to say a word, Ryland walked past her, and he sat at his office desk. “I am afraid, Soffie, that I would have to refect your application for your investment in my racecourse, Rykand told her blankly. Just then, the look on Sofie’s face was that of a woman who was beyond furious that she was being denied.
“Is this because I am a woman?” She asked, resting her hand on her chest and leaving it there. She sounded shocked, but Ryan knew better than anyone that she was pretending.
“Is this because I am a woman?” She asked, and Ryland rubbed his eyes cause he knew what Sofia was about to play.”
“No, Sofie, this has nothing to do with you being a woman.”
Then why can I not invest?”
“Because I do not want you to work with me, and neither do I want your money! Ryland told her while raising his voice. She was hurt, and it was evident.
“After we broke up. I suffered,” she told him, and Rykand quickly looked away from her. The last thing he wanted was to revisit the past of Sofie and himself.
“I do not want to hear you,” he told her while showing no signs of sympathy towards her.
“That is your problem: you never allow me to explain myself, she cried prefusively.
“Solem, you abandoned me when I needed you the most, and you fell into the hands of another na; there is not a lot to explain, he told her.

Even though his mind warned him of the possible dangers of being caught, Ryland could think of nothing else but the fact that he was in this moment. He could not remember how many times he had cried for Sofie after she had left his side and gone off with another man twice her age.

Ryland quickly pulled himself away from Sofie, breaking the deep kiss. Looking around, he picked up his telephone that was ringing and pressed it to Jus ear. “Hello, how may I help you??” he asked. The rest of the conversation was filled with Rykand saying nothing and simply nodding his head. Once he ended the call, he looked at Sofie woringly.
“You have to leave now; he told her, and Sofie could hear the urgency in his voice.

“But why should I leave? We were having a blissful and passionate kiss.”
“I want you to leave because my secretary just informed me that my wife has just walked into the building. Within minutes, she will be here, and I do not want you to ruin my marriage!” Ryland exclaimed.
“But you don’t even love her!” Sofie fought back her tears. She hated that Ryland was no longer hers, and she hated that a plain and boring woman like Amanda had her claws dug deep into him.
“My business is between my wife and me, and it has nothing to do with you. I would not expect a single woman like yourself to understand matters of the heart anyway. Leave my office; otherwise, you will see the worst of me, Ryland told her before fixing his shirt so as not to cause suspicion.
Sofie angrily climbed off the office table, fixed herself, and walked towards the exit. Just as she was about to exit the office, she stopped and turned to look at Ryland, who was clearly panicked at the sight of seeing Ryland panic in such a way.
Something about Ryland changed, and Sofie did not like it one bit. Once again, her plans had failed completely, and the person to blame was none other than Amanda, and just then, Sofie vowed to deal with her. She quickly stepped out of the office and walked towards the back exit of the building-
