Finally, the project for the race track was beginning to take shape, and Ryland could not be more proud as he visited the site that the race track was being built on. He watched silently as all the investors each stood at their various spots on the large piece of land and conversed with their own teams, while Ryland stood far away, looking at each and every one of them and feeling a burst of happiness within himself. For years, he had been dreaming of owning his own race track that would rival all other race tracks around the world, and now he was much closer to his dream.
“Sir, it is time for the conference” One of his employers informed him, and without wasting another moment, Ryland turned around and walked towards the conference room Upon arriving at the conference table, Ryland felt the butterflies. rising up in his stomach as he saw a room filled with reporters holding their cameras. All of them were eager for the interview that was about to take place. Ryland took his seat at the table and calmed himself. He had no doubt in his mind that these reporters would most likely ask him a lot of questions, and most of the questions would leave Ryland feeling slightly uncomfortable.
“Good afternoon, everyone. I will now be taking all your questions regarding the race track Ryland responded with a smile on his face, knowing very well that deep down he felt as though everything was coiling up. Ryland listened and answered a multitude of questions, and everything seemed to have been going well until the reporters stepped out from the crowd. holding her mic towards him.
“Mr. Ryland Scorpio, I must say that I am very happy that your dream of building your own race track is finally coming true, but I would like to ask you another question. The female reporter said to Ryland that even though she was smiling, there was something about her smile that did not seem genuine.
“And what would that question be?” Ryland asked, bracing himself for the worst.
“At a particular function a few days ago, you stated that you would be naming your unborn daughter after Sophie. I believe Sophie is your ex-fiance. The reporter’s words had clearly struck a nerve, and from the smile on her face, she knew what she had done.
Ryland was no fool, he was well aware that such a question would ultimately come, but he had not expected it this far down in the line of questions, and therefore Ryland knew that he would most likely have to change the trajectory of the other questions.
“Unfortunately, I would not be answering that question. As you are aware, this briefing is about my up-and-coming race track and not my personal life. Thank you, everyone, for coming to this momentous event. I really appreciate you once. again, Ryland responded calmly. He could see that the female reporter was not too pleased by his calm response, there was no doubt in Ryland’s mind that she wanted a spectacle. Before she could ask any more questions, Ryland stood up and walked away from the table. All he could hear was the clicking of cameras and more questions being flung in his direction with regards to his past relationship with Sophie.
Walking to the back of the stage, Ryland could not help but feel angry at himself for allowing himself to draw this much attention to himself. All he wanted was to bring attention to the race track that he was building, and that is where he wanted the attention to be. Now his personal life has been brought into the mix. Even though the investors behind the scene congratulated him, Ryland could still feel their eyes on his back. Ryland could not help but wonder what conversations they were having behind his back.
Ryland knew more than most people that he could not make the mistake of fueling unnecessary conflicts; otherwise, his investors might just pull out of his business deal. That was the last thing he wanted to happen.
“Get my driver and tell him to drive me home immediately.” Ryland ordered one of the assistants, and within no time he was inside his vehicle and being driven back home. The entire drive was filled with overthinking. He knew that he needed a new strategy—a strategy that would encourage his investors to trust him more and perhaps bring more investors than he already had on the team.

“Amanda! Ryland called out to Amanda, but there was no response, and just as he was about to walk up to his room, the burning smell came from the direction of the kitchen. Without wasting time, he rushed towards the kitchen, only to find

that there was a burnt pot of food on the stove. The kitchen was filled with smoke as well. Ryland quickly removed the pot from the stove and shut the stove before opening the windows to let all the smoke out. He was furning in anger because Amanda had nearly burned his house down
“Amanda” Ryland called out in her once more as he ascended the steps, walked all the way to her room, and banged on the door as loudly as he could. He waited, and there was no answer on Amanda. Ryland proceeded to unlock the room, and there was no sign of her in the room as well.
Looking around the room, Amanda was nowhere in sight, and this left Ryland feeling uneasy. He could not help but think that the worst happened to Amanda, but just as it turned around to walk out of the room, he heard the sound of water coming from her bathroom.
sound “Amanda”” Ryland called out to her again as he slammed his hand against her bathroom door, and still there was no from her. He attempted to unlock the bathroom door, but it was locked from the inside. “This is not funny. You nearly burned the house down,” he said, but still there was no response. Just before Ryland was about to call out to her again, he looked down at his feet and saw water seeping out from beneath the bathroom door.
Ryland stared at the water for about a minute before realizing what had happened, and then his pupils widened as if he realized that something was completely wrong. Wasting no time, Ryland ran to the other end of the room and charged towards the bathroom door while repeatedly slamming his back against the door. As he repeated the motion, Ryland hoped that, with enough force, he could break open the door. “Amanda” He yelled out as he continuously slammed his body against the bathroom door.
With every second that went by and Ryland slamming his full weight against the bathroom door, he felt hopeless. The longer that he took to break open the door,the more he knew that Amanda was in danger, and just as he was about to give up, the door finally gave in and broke open. Ryland slipped and fell to the floor; his clothes were wet, and by the time he sood up, he was struck with fear. Submerged in the bathtub, filled with water, was none other than Amnada. Ryland had no doubt in his mind that she had drowned.
He reached for Amanda and pulled her out of the water, carrying her naked body to her bed and laying her down before administering CPR to her.

still Then, as he administered CPR, he felt like he was losing hope because Amanda was not coming back to life. She was breathing and was not responding to any of the CPR that he was carrying out. The more he tried, the more Ryland felt a rising emotion rise within himself; he feared that Amanda would not make it, and he could not imagine his life without her. Even in the little time that they had spent with one another, he had become attached to her in some way or form.
“Amanda, please wake up, he pleaded with her, but still there was no sign of life, and just when he was about to give up and call the paramedics, Amanda spat out water from her mouth. Watching her take a deep breath, Ryland was excited. He stood beside Amanda and watched her come back to him with a bright smile on his lips.
Just then and there, Amanda was about to open her mouth to ask what had happened to her before she stopped and realized. that she was completely naked and sitting in front of Ryland, who was looking down at her naked body. Amanda quickly retrieved her sheet from her bed and covered herself with it before asking, “What happened? What did you do to me?” she asked frantically. It was only when Ryland looked into her eyes that he realized what she had been thinking of him.
“This is not what it looks like, okay? I just came from a conference, and I called out to you. You did not respond to me, and 1 found you in the bath tub, completely submerged,” he explained, but Ryland was quick to realize that once again he was letting his guard down with Amanda,
What is wrong with you, Ryland? He thought to himself. Not wanting to become too attached to her, he stepped away her bed. Amanda, on the other hand, was in deep thought; she had almost lost her life and the life of her unborn child.

While looking at Ryland’s angry face, Amanda remembered just what had happened. “I wanted to take a bath, but once I got into the water, I felt weird. I do not remember what happened after that, she explained.

The hospital-why would we be going there?” she asked.
“Because we need to make sure that the baby is okay, I don’t think I want any more surprises, Ryland responded before turning on his heel and stepping out of Amanda’s room.

With every step that Ryland took towards his room, he could not help but feel a wave of relief that Amanda was completely okay and that he had saved her life just in time. All of a sudden, the burned food in the kitchen did not matter, nor did the smoke detector in the kitchen that had gone off. All he was happy with was that Amanda was okay.
