To Amanda’s surprise, she woke up in the morning and her mother-in-law was nowhere insight, but Ryland quickly informed Amanda that his mother had left early in the morning due to a family emergency at home, and this meant that Amanda would visit the hospital alone. Every time Amanda came to the hospital for a checkup, she was always excited at fre expectation of seeing her baby on the small monitor. The last time she had sitter eyes on her child, he or she had been nothing bigger than a melon, and she could not wait to see how big her child had grown.
Amanda had given up on the idea of Ryland coming along with her to see the baby, proving once again that he had only said those things during dinner to ease her mother’s anger. She did not blame him knowing for sure that the child in her stomach was not Ryland’s biological child. For just the moment, Amanda had hoped that Ryland was a man of his words, but she was quickly realized that she meant nothing to him.
“It looks like it’s just you and me, kiddo,” She said it with a bright smile on her face, not wanting to upset herself any longer with matters that regarded Ryland.
Mrs. Amanda Scorpio,” The nurse called out to Amanda, who quickly stood up from the chair and answered.

“Well, come on, madam.” She told Amanda and once Amanda walked into the room, the nurse had handed her a hospital gown, in which Amanda had quickly been put it on. She was now rested on the hospital bed, awaiting her doctor, who had not taken long before he knocked on their door, and he too was also smiling, ready to help Amanda
“Good morning. Mrs. Scorpio. The doctor greeted her with a sweet and kind voice that made Amanda relax-the most relaxed he had been in the last few days.
“Good morning, doctor. Amanda responded as she rested her hand on her swollen her belly, and she tried her best to keep calm. She was extremely nervous about the prospects of seeing the unborn child on the monitor.
“Well, Mrs. Scorpio, I have looked through all your files, and it seems as though your child is very healthy, but we still have to look around and make sure all is well. I would like to know where your husband” The doctor asked her, and just then Amanda started smiling. She could not tell the doctor the real reason why Ryland had not shown up at their appointment. instead she bit her lips.
Unfortunately, doctor, he will not be coming in today because he is busy at work. Life of a busy man,” She responded in a soft voice before looking down at her swollen belly, and she was embarrassed to tell the doctor the real reason why Ryland had not shown up to the appointment
“Who said I would not be coming to the appointment? Amanda quickly looked up as she heard a familiar voice, and to her surprise, it was Ryland standing at the door of the hospital, Amanda was quick to look around. Ryland looked different; he looked fresher than he had looked earlier in the morning when Amanda was looking for his mother. The smile on his face was that of a man who was happily married, when in reality Amanda knew that their marriage was far from happy; rather, it was something close to a horror movie.
Amanda watched it all as Ryland grewted the doctor, and he was smiling. Even the nurse who was assisting the doctor could not help but to be drawnwd by his charm.
“Who are you, if I may ask the doctor? Ryland politely asked
Ryland held out his hand with a smile licking his lips before he said, “I am Mr. Ryland Scorpio, and I am the husband of Amanda Scorpio, and how could I miss this wonderful occasion for anything else in the world” He answered with a bright

Amanda watched in fours as Ryland walked around her hospital bed before planting a light kiss on her forehead. Within no time, the lights had been slightly dimmed, and the other two were looking at the scan, and just like magic, there was the lightning on the screen, and then before them, a baby was kicking around and moving. Amanda could not control the tears welling up in her eyes. She shut her eyes. She heard the steady heartbeats of the child. She quickly turned her head to look at Ryland and his eyes with glue to the screen, but there was a lack of emotion on his face, and the man truly did not expect anything less for me.
“Look how cute your little pumpkin looks!” The doctor told them as he pointed his index finger in the direction of the ultrasound screen. “Would you, too, like to know if it is a boy or girl?” Both Amanda and Ryland turned to look at one another before both of them nodded in agreement, perhaps the first thing that they had agreed on since becoming a married couple.
Both Amanda and Ryland watched as a doctor typed the few things on the laptop close to him before turning towards Ryland and imagining Amanda before smiling and welcoming imagination. “Congratulations, you’re having a beautiful baby girl”. The doctor informed them, Amanda quickly raised her hands to cover mouth and stop herself from screaming. She was about to have her own little girl.
Throughout the entire encounter, Ryland had been quiet, as though taking his time to suck everything in. Once a doctor had left the room, the nurse quickly followed, and before Amanda could open her mouth, Ryland had also stepped out of the room, leaving Amanda with the kicking child in her stomach.
At the parking lot
Ryland felt his foot hurt as he repeatedly kicked his car tire over and over until his foot hurt the entire morning. He fought with himself but, in the end, lost the fight. The urge to see a Man U was stronger than he’s urged to have revenge on her
“I hate you,” he yelled as he slapped his hand against the roof of his vehicle because being in that room with Amanda and watching the small life that was roaming in her stomach left him feeling emotions that he had never thought he would feel. For the longest time, he had not wanted to have children, but suddenly having Amanda pregnant made him feel different about his choices, and he was not liking it one bit.
You cannot allow yourself to feel like this, and you definitely cannot allow Amanda to warm her way into your heart. Ryland thought to himself. He heard footsteps walking towards him, Ryland paused, he turned around only to see that it was
Amanda.
“From the bottom of my heart, thank you,” Ryland heard Amanda say before he raised a questionable eyebrow in her direction. “Do you want me to spill this out for you? I mean, thank you for coming to the doctor’s appointment with me.
“I did not do this for you; I did this because my mother would want me to tell her exactly what happened” Ryland fired back, but non of hid venomous words were enough to hurt Amanda for about a week. Amanda had gotten used to Ryland’s sarcastic remarks.
“Well, whatever reason you did it for, I would like to say thank you, and it means a lot to me for you being at my appointment, Amanda added before looking down at her feet.
“Could you please just get into the car? I do not want to stand here the entire day in this hot son and waste my time any longer,” Ryland told her, before unlocking his side of the car and entering.
