Chapter4
That night. I drank way too much
My mind was filled with thoughts of Ryan Mitchell. I wanted to call him, to text
him
But then I saw his latest post on Instagram
He had posted a picture of Lana Brooks lying in a hospital bed, making a silly face.
His caption read: “So adorable.”
Adorable, my ass!
Suddenly, I was stone–cold sober.
What kind of person was I even in love with?
I immediately sent him a barrage of voice messages, calling him a heartless jerk and telling him I wanted to break up.
Then I passed out.
When I woke up. I was in Ryan’s arms.
He was just stepping out of Sarah’s house.
I tried to pull away, but he said, “Don’t move. Sarah told me you drank too much Last night. I didn’t want you to get sick.”
He carried me to the car and then apologized, “What happened yesterday was my
faut
Chapter4
“I was just worried because Lana doesn’t know anyone else in this city.”
“That’s why I snapped at you.”
“I’ve got a surprise for you. Can you forgive me?”
“But you said she was adorable.”
She posted that herself. I’ve already deleted it.”
Then he took my hand..
‘Becky, you have to trust me. You’re the only one in my heart. I came back to this
city just for you.”
Ryan may have grown up in the Northridge, but he has the smooth–talking charm
and attention to detail of a Southern man.
No wonder so many women fell for him.
But for some reason, he chose me, the tomboy.
He put in a lot of effort to win me over.
If it weren’t for our differences back then, we’d probably have a kid by now.
In a daze, I remembered my grandmother’s words.
She was sick, and her last wish was to see me find a good partner.
She said, “Becca, you’re not getting any younger. Once I’m gone, who will take care of you? I can’t leave in peace.”
Snapping back to reality, I wiped away my tears.
“Alright, let’s see this surprise you’ve prepared.”
