Chapter 35
THIRD PERSON POV
They held the ceremony in the Alphaa office. The appointment of a new Beta was supposed to be a private ceremony.
As they wore Dan in to continue in the legacy of his father, he promised never to relent in his duties. He had watched his father work and had seen the way the man had been faithful to the Alpha. He’d sworn to be just as faithful.
“By the power vested in me as the Alpha of this pack, I declare you my Beta.”
As soon as he was sworn in, he began work immediately. With the impending danger that the pack was facing, they had to get to work immediately and make sure that things were in place.
Firstly, they started with securing the pack. They set up restrictions around the pack and placed guards to be on guard throughout. Then some men were asked to be on foot and move around the pack, checking in to report anything suspicious that they saw.
Alpha Dimitri spent the entire day going over all security measures that were to be taken. He had to make sure that he would not forget anything so as not to put the lives of the people at risk.
Rogues had been threatening his pack for the longest time ever since his father’s time and now, they were coming for him. He had no other choice but to do what he thinks his father would have done.
He asks Dan to make sure that none of the guards or anyone else in fact reveals the reason for these security measures. He knew how much chaos it would bring if the people found out about what was to happen. He was being very careful and wanted to make sure about the news before disclosing it.
After making sure that he was done downstairs, he went back to his room to freshen up, tired from a long day or work and he’ll be thinking about his conversation earlier in the morning with his mother.
The fact that she was pushing him to marry Violet and the fact that she thought she could control his life was funny to him. He could understand that she hated Serena but nothing could change the fact that Serena was carrying his baby and she would be giving birth to her grandchild.
It was something no one could control anymore.
Thinking of Serena, he decided to go to her room to check on her. He hadn’t seen her in a while and he wanted to make sure she was okay.
He didn’t even knock and she was shocked when she heard someone behind her in her room. She thought it was this mother who had come to trouble her again.
“Good day, Alpha.” She was reaching the bed, dressed in a knee–length floral gown.
He liked how the gown flowed around her.
He walked towards her and passed her, taking his chair in the far end corner of the room. She can feel his eyes everywhere
on her body and she doesn’t know if that’s a good thing. She’s wondering what he came to do in her room.
“Do you need something?”
He looked into her eyes.
“I don’t understand.”
“I mean, why did you come here? Do you need something?”

He cocked his head to the side.
“Do I need a reason to see you?”
She didn’t know what to say and she didn’t want to trade words with him.
“No, you don’t. I’m sorry.
He stood up and walked to the door, opening it and calling the first maid he saw.
“Get me a bottle of…” he remembered she was pregnant she couldn’t drink wine “Juice and two glasses.
As he walked back to his chair, he kept his eyes on her watching her movements.

She felt very awkward that he was here and she couldn’t deny it. He could see it from her body movements and all that.
But he didn’t say anything. When the maid walked in with the glasses and juice, she shared in the awkward silence and had to stand there after dropping the tray.
“You can leave.”
Serena was still trying to understand why on earth he was here and what he was trying to do.
“Pour it.” He pointed to the tray.
She did so easily, carrying the tray over to him and watching him drink and then give her back the glass for another refill like she was some waiter.
She couldn’t complain though. She just had to do as she was told and better like it.
She served him drinks six times and she was already boiling with anger because she couldn’t understand why on earth he was here doing this.
When she gave him the glass the sixth time, she didn’t expect him to pull her to his lips and wrap his hands around her
waist.
She tried to get up but he didn’t budge.
“Don’t even think about it. Just let it go.”
She knew that if he didn’t want her to leave, she wouldn’t be able to leave so she just let it go. She looked away from him though, not wanting to have to look at him when they were this close. He noticed it and he spoke up.
“Look at me, Serena.‘
She rolled her eyes before finally looking at him. His eyes were so intense.
“Why are you acting like you don’t enjoy the fact that I’m holding you? I know you do, you like being close to me and touching me.”
Serena hated his ego but she couldn’t blame him. She had to give credit to the women in his life who fed the ego.
Forgetting that she has been asked a question, she was so lost in thought.
“I asked you a question, Serena. Answer me.”
She tried to recall the question so that it wouldn’t show that she had been absent minded. But then she remembered. “No, I’m not happy I’m here and I’m not pretending to not enjoy it.”

She said that with as much seriousness as she could but he thought it was a joke.
“That’s not true and you know it and you’re lying to me. All you have to say is the word and I’ll willingly fuck you till you drop.”
He knew his words had an effect on her but he didn’t want to push her too much.
She was stunned that he could say a thing like that. She didn’t know he could be this vulgar and she didn’t know if she liked it. His lips were very close to her and she could feel his body heat on her skin.
Maybe that was what was turning her on. And the thought of having sex again with him was pleasing. She was very good in bed and she knew that she would enjoy it but the thought of being with him again in bed after getting pregnant once would be an insult to her. She wasn’t that stupid to let herself be lured into that again.
Her body wanted one thing while her mind was saying another.
So she couldn’t give him an answer to his invitation and she didn’t stop him when he began peppering kisses down her neck
