Chapter 12

THIRD PERSON POV

They both looked at her confused and she wondered if she should just tell them the truth or let them keep thinking what they’ve always thought was the truth.

When she found it out herself, she hadn’t been happy either. She was even more angry because she felt stupid.

“What are you talking about, mum? Say something!”

She didn’t speak immediately, she tried to find the right words that the kids would understand.

“Your father, the late Alpha, was in love with a woman. I tried my best to get them to stop seeing each other but nothing worked. That slimy bitch kept coming after my husband like he was the last man in the world.”

Someone else joined in the conversation behind the curtains, just as she had done last night.

Then she got married. When I found out about it, I hated her Ihated her so much that I asked for her to be killed but the fools didn’t succeed.”

It had happened so many years ago but she could still feel the anger and hatred that she felt brewing on her chest.

She had been so bitter back then that it seeped through her and you could hear it in every ounce of her voice.

So when the baby was born, I told your father that I didn’t want to see that woman in my house. It was either he chose her or he chose me. That was up to him. It almost broke our marriage.”

It didn’t because she knew that she would never allow a random woman to come in and mess up a home that she had struggled so hard to build

She didn’t care if they were lovers before he got married to him she was married to him now, and that’s all that mattered.

“When I found out that she died, I was over the moon. I mean, who wouldn’t be? The woman who was about to ruin your

your father life and marriage was dead and gone forever. I thought I could finally have a peaceful marriage like others but wasn’t done putting me through hell.”

Serena strained her ear towards the dining room. All this was new to her. All the while, she had always thought that this man was her father, and now, she was hearing that she shared the same father as Amelia.

There was no way that was possible. There was no way she had the same blood running through her veins.

“He brought her in to live with us. I was livid. I was so mad that told him that one of us had to go, and he said that if I hated her so much, I could pack up my things and leave. He said he had made a promise to that stupid mother of hers and he couldn’t go back on it.”

“What? All because of that low life?” Amelia added.

As soon as she said those words, she looked at her brother who gave her his reply unrough his look. He would warn her again but she would regret it the next time she said something like that

“Yes, all because of her. I couldn’t let his illegitimate child come into my house and drive me away. So I stood my ground

and fought against the outsider.”

When she says that she fought, she means that she abused Serena. As soon as her husband was not in the room, she would beat the girl insult her, and make her work.

“After your father tragically passed away, leaving me with you kids, that’s when I found out the truth. Your father isn’t her

father. He had been so stupid not to see that that whore he was going after was not faithful to him. She’d slept with someone else and he was her father. You are in no way related to her.”

Amelia. Dimitri, and Serena didn’t know what to say after she was done.

That was not a story they’d been expecting to hear. They didn’t think that that truth even existed, but right now, they were hearing it.

But it wasn’t entirely the truth.

Lucy was hiding the real version from them, hoping to fuel inore hate between them and Serena

Serena’s mother had ended up marrying another man who turned out to be her mate since she couldn’t have the former Alpha who was already married.

The both of them decided to face their marriages, but they couldn’t deny their feelings for each other.

Serena was born after Alpha Dimitri had been born to the former Alpha as well.

But following the death of her mother, the Alpha took it upon himself to take her into his care out of the love he had for her mother and also because he saw her as a daughter.

As soon as she got married, she posed no threat to the Alpha’s marriage at all.

Amelia didn’t like the fact that Serena and her mother had been the ones to destroy her peaceful and loving family. Little did she know that there had never been love. Her father only married her mother because he had been asked to. He was

ever interested in her but she had been the one to find her way into his life.

Dimitri, hearing this story, was confused at the chest, but now that he understood it, it didn’t matter to him. He didn’t care what happened in the past between all of them. He only cared about the present.

Serena was the one whose emotions were like a roller coaster. She was confused, angry, and mad all at the same time. What on earth had she just heard? Everything that she’d believed as a child was a lie.

So the late Alpha wasn’t her father? She didn’t even know whether to cry because now, she didn’t know who her father was or to rejoice because she wasn’t related to the father of her baby,

That had been her main fear for all this time.

It finally made sense to her as to why her stepmom hated her so much. She knew that Amelia only hated her because she could see that her mum hated her and also because she was a bully who was just a stupid coward.

But now, it finally made sense as to why her mother always treated her badly. For as long as she could remember, This woman had always been on her case.

But no matter the circumstances, no one deserved to be treated like that.

Things had even gotten better when she grew up; at least she had other responsibilities, and so much time had passed, but back when she was still growing up, she had been through hell in her hands, and she had no one to fight for her.

“She deserved every bit of what she got. Mum, you should have killed her.”

Amelia’s mother didn’t say it but she had tried. She put rat poison in the girl’s food but the little witch didn’t eat the food.

Someone else had ended up eating it.

“So you see, Dimitri. It runs in their blood, getting pregnant for someone else and putting the blame on others. You have to be careful and smart. That baby is not yours, I’m sure of it. She learned the art of lying and fraud from her mother.”

Dimitri didn’t listen to a word his mother said. He didn’t care if Serena herself came out and told him that he wasn’t the father. He had already accepted the baby and he was going to raise the child as his child.
