Chapter 523
Molly’s heart raced as she walked to the bed. When she saw the empty glass of hangover soup at the head of the bed, she immediately looked vexed.
The secretary–general suddenly called her back to the company she thought that there was still time, but she did not expect to see Maeve leave this room at the door.
Maeve seemed to be mumbling something like “You actually treat me as another woman“…
The drug had already been done. Molly was afraid that when Byron woke up, he would suspect her. Even if Maeve had already intercepted her, she had no choice but to come in and get rid of the hangover soup.

“I…” Molly was scared to death, but she did not want to let go of such a good opportunity. “I said, after what you did to me last night, how do you plan to be responsible for me?”
Byron sneered ambiguously. “The hangover soup I drank last night was sent by you.”
Molly’s face turned pale. “What do you mean? Do you suspect that I drugged you? You were the one who drank too much last night. When I came to bring you a towel, you took the initiative to pull me… How could a weak woman like me resist?”

He was sure that with his self–control, he wouldn’t be so useless that he would be controlled by his desire just because he had drunk a little.
Besides, he was not interested in a woman who was not Maeve.

Byron suddenly paused. The feeling that the woman gave him last night was very to Maeve’s.

He picked up his phone and dialed the number of the owner. “Send me the surveillance footage from yesterday to today’s fifth floor.”
After giving his instructions, he called Macve.
No one picked up.
Maeve did not return to the manor. She was afraid that her current appearance would scare Will and Theo, so she took a taxi to the Hancock family.
Bonnie noticed sharply that the area around her neck was covered in mottled hickeys. She pulled Maeve into the room and examined her. Almost all her skin was covered in these marks.

“Baby, what’s going on? Which bastard bullied you?” Bonnie asked angrily.
Maeve did not even want to mention what happened last night. The thought of being used by Byron as a stand–in for Molly made her sick.
She didn’t want to say anything. She took a bath in Bonnie’s bathroom. After coming out, she lay on her bed and fell asleep. Bonnie’s heart ached when she saw that Maeve’s phone was vibrating. She took it and saw that it was Byron calling. She immediately muted it.
‘Only Byron can make Maeve heartbreak like this. How can there be such a ridiculous man?‘
Maeve slept until nighttime. When she saw the phone on the table light up, she picked it up and saw that it was Paige calling. “What’s wrong?” she asked, her voice husky as she half pushed herself up.
“Mrs. Reese, your fiancé, Mr. Mcdaniel, came to the studio today. I’ve already told him that you’re out shopping. He left after waiting for about an hour,” Paige said carefully.
Paige couldn’t believe she had actually met the CEO of the Mcdaniel Group.
Everyone in the studio knew that Maeve was engaged to him, but the feeling of seeing him was still different.
Maeve nodded. “Sorry to trouble you.”
“It’s no trouble. Then I won’t disturb you anymore.”
“Yeah.”
After hanging up, Maeve lay back on the bed. When she saw that there were more than ten missed calls from Byron on her phone, her pale lips pursed tighter and tighter.
Every time she started to have expectations for him, she would be immediately woken up.
This time was no exception.
She was so tired.

“Then go buy me a bottle of water.” The boy tried to move her away.
“How can you order a girl around?” she said in disbelief.
“Didn’t you say that you have to be more attentive when chasing someone?”
“But you haven’t agreed to let me chase you!”
It was logical and well–founded.
The boy was probably choked by her. He didn’t say a word the entire way, as if he didn’t intend to talk to her anymore. They came to a tall building. The boy told her to wait outside and walked in.
She squatted by the roadside and counted ants in boredom. She heard passers–by talking about the boss of this building. “He’s the heir of the Mcdaniel Group, right? He’s born with a sliver spoon. Who wouldn’t be envious?”
“Among so many wealthy families in Kleymond, most of them have illegitimate children. Only the Mcdaniel family has an only son. In the future, all of the Mcdaniel family’s assets will belong to that heir alone.”
“I’m not greedy. Just make me his wife. I don’t want to work hard anymore.”
“Dream on.”
She rested her chin on her hand and listened to the gossip. Some of it entered her ears but not her mind. From time to time, she would glance at the entrance of the building, as if that thin and straight figure would come out in the next second.
