Maeve led him to the guest room on the first floor. She turned around and looked at him with a blank face. “What on earth do you want with me? Surely you didn’t come all this way because you missed me?”

‘Of course, Maeve knew it wasn’t. She was deliberately trying to get on his nerves.
How could he miss her? He had even said she was an eyesore last time.
