Rosa felt that life had truly lost its meaning.
“Mr. Sowle is in the elevator right now. Ms. Reese, please come down. When he arrives, you can ask him directly. He’s always been a man of his word; you know him better than we do.
“Some people are just passing through in his life. How can a passing figure‘ be more important than you? You’re the one meant to’share the future with him. You’ve been through so much together. This is just a minor hurdle,” Calvin said while wiping the sweat from his forehead, desperately trying to persuade Rosa.
Upon hearing his words, Rosa’s expression softened slightly. Maybe everything was just a small
issue.
Yes… Skylar was just a passerby. She was the one who was meant to be with him for a lifetime.
She and Joe had been through so much together. Skylar couldn’t take him away so easily. Skylar was just a cunning thief, and thieves never truly win in the end.
Just then, Joe walked out of the elevator. Upon seeing Rosa standing on the rooftop, he furrowed
his brow and said, “Rosa, come down.”
Hearing his familiar voice made Rosa turn her head immediately. Her eyes filled with tears that
she couldn’t hold back.
“I won’t come down. I don’t want to be your burden. Ned, we are destined to be apart in this lifetime. I know you don’t love me anymore, so I’ll let you go. I just want you to be happy, no matter
what, now or in the past.”
Rosa was in tears, looking as if she had made peace with everything and was no longer afraid of
death. Then, she snapped back to reality and glanced down.
So many people had gathered in such a short time. A few reporters were snapping pictures, their
cameras clicking away at the scenes.
She didn’t want this humiliating moment captured, nor did she want anyone to associate her with
a suicide attempt in the future.
But there was no other way out. She knew Joe was resolute. If he said he would give her up, he
really would. If he turned around and went to find Skylar, he would do it.
So, she felt she had no choice. She had to take drastic measures to keep Joe with her.
“If you come down, we’ll get married tomorrow,” Joe said in a deep voice.
Outside the hospital, Skylar stepped into the crowd and looked up at the rooftop. The building
wasn’t very tall, so she could clearly see Rosa standing there.
Some reporters had already deployed drones to capture live footage of the scene, eager to break the news first. Nearby, a reporter was reporting on the live updates from the drone feed.
