Skylar blinked in surprise but then smiled. “I just said you are Joe.”
Joe didn’t respond, but some of his physical reactions lingered.
Skylar flushed with embarrassment. Being held like this made her feel a bit uneasy.
Just as she was about to remind him, Joe’s phone rang. He continued to look at her as he
answered the call. “Wait for me to come back.”
After saying that, he hung up the phone without another word.
The phone call seemed to have tempered some of Joe’s wild thoughts. He took a step back and released Skylar.
“Wait for my call,” he said as he walked away.
Skylar was taken aback for a moment. It wasn’t until Joe’s car disappeared that she snapped back
to reality, a smile creeping onto her face.
Skylar noticed that Gloria wasn’t in the living room when she arrived home. Just then, Veronica came down from upstairs,
