The maid said, “She says she is Ned Sowle’s fiancée.‘
Upon hearing Ned’s name, Veronica instantly understood why there was no prior appointment However, she couldn’t help but wonder why Roan had suddenly come to visit.
Although she had never met this woman, Veronica felt a strange dislike for her.
Gloria was also taken aback. She furrowed her brow
After a moment of silence, she said, “Let her in.
Then she turned to Veronica. “Put those things away for now. We might not go after all. I want to
see what this Rosa has come for.”
“Visting without a reason is unusual. Mrs. Martin Senior, please don’t let your emotions run high If necessary, I can call Mrs. Martin and ask her to come back,” Veronica said, a hint of concern in
her voice.
Gloria shook her head. “No need. She’s just a young woman.”
Having been around Joe for three years, Rosa must have figured out his true identity but had
never revealed it to him.
One could only imagine how conniving this woman was. Thinking of this made Gloria’s
expression darken. A person who tried to claim what didn’t belong to them was inherently wrong.
After a few minutes, Gloria met Rosa, Rosa was momentarily taken aback upon seeing Gloria.
Gloria looked remarkably well–preserved and radiated an undeniable air of authority.
Such a presence was fascinating. Joe shared a similar presence. If Joe were here alongside Gloria,
they would surely give off a sense of familial connection.
Rosa was surprised that Skylar wasn’t there. After all, Skylar was living there as well.
Rosa had come today to make her intentions clear to both Gloria and Skylar. She didn’t want to
waste time returning later.
“Hello, Mrs. Martin Senior. I’m Rosa Reese, Ned’s fiancée. I apologize for the intrusion today,” she
began politely.
Gloria coldly acknowledged her. “Just get to the point.”
“Could Ms. Sullivan come down as well? I have some things I need to say to her too. I want to clarify everything while I have this opportunity,” Rosa requested.
Rosa kept reminding herself to smile, but for some reason, standing before an elderly woman in
her 70s, she felt as if all her thoughts were being laid bare. She found it difficult to maintain eye
contact with Gloria.
Still, she was determined. Once she’d set her mind on something, she had to see it through, or she
couldn’t find peace.
Gloria raised an eyebrow slightly. “Skye isn’t here. If you have something to say, just say it.”
Rosa, even if she were dense, could sense Gloria’s impatience in her tone. It seemed like Gloria
didn’t want to hear her ramble on
Although Rosa felt a pang of reluctance, she reminded herself that coming here was no easy feat. If she didn’t resolve things today, Joe would inevitably find out, so she decided to address everything with Gloria in front of her.
She had gathered information indicating that Gloria’s health was declining. Yet, given her persistence in living, Rosa couldn’t help but wonder why she hadn’t passed on.
Rosa frowned slightly but quickly forced a smile as she addressed Gloria. “My fiancé, Ned Sowle, and I recently went to Jipsburg. To our surprise, we came across someone who looked exactly like him. That person is your grandson, Joe Martin.”
