Chapter 1258
Skylar gripped her phone tightly. At that moment, her ears seemed to hear nothing at all.
“We can wait for Mr. Ziegler to return. Once he’s physically better, he might remember more,” Jeremy said, noticing Skylar’s silence and understanding the weight of the blow she was feeling.
It was similar to the shock she experienced three years ago when she first learned about Joe and Paul’s disappearance.
Skylar softly responded, “Okay, I understand. Please let me know Mr. Ziegler’s flight details. I’ll go pick him up.”
Not long after their call ended, Jeremy sent over the flight information. Then, she numbly canceled her flight ticket.
For a long while, she felt lost in a haze.

When Janine entered, she found Skylar in a daze, her face pale and devoid of color. It looked like she had received some terrible news, and Janine felt a deep concern rise within her.
After calling her name and getting no response, she called again. Skylar snapped back to reality and looked at Janine, whose face was filled with concern. “Mom.
“What were you just thinking about? Is something wrong? Or are you feeling unwell?” Janine asked in quick succession.
The person she cared about most was Skylar. Over the past few years, Skylar had been in a foreign land searching for Joe.
Everyone was aware of his situation, but they couldn’t bear to shatter her hopes. Now, seeing. Skylar’s lost expression, Janine felt a pang of pain and worry in her heart.
Skylar forced a smile, pulling at the corners of her mouth. “It’s nothing. I might just be a bit tired from not sleeping well last night. I’ll be fine once I go back and rest for a while. You all go ahead and keep busy.”
With that, she stood up, grabbed her bag and phone, and walked past Janine.
As Janine watched Skylar leave, she murmured to herself, “It’s obvious something is bothering her. Skye has always kept her troubles to herself, not wanting me to worry. After all, she’s the child who grew up right under my nose. I can tell when something’s off with her. Sigh!”
Chapter 58
Skylar left Sullance Group and headed straight to Galaxy Villa.
She had just settled down with a glass of water when she spaced out for a moment. Suddenly, her phone rang again, and she frowned upon seeing the call from Vera.
She didn’t have the energy to chat with Vera righ now. After setting her phone down for a bit, Vera called again, followed by several more calls.
Finally, Skylar had no choice but to answer.
“Skylar, it’s me, Vera. I know you might not want to take my call, but I can’t think of anyone
else to contact.” Vera’s voice sounded frantic.
Skylar was losing her patience. “Just tell me what’s going on.”
“It’s about my dad. He’s been seeing someone on the side, and he’s been insisting on divorcing my mom for the past few days. My mom can’t handle it and is emotionally breaking down. I just took her to see a therapist today, and her condition has stabilized a lot.
“But my dad… He and my mom have always seemed so loving since I can remember. They rarely even argue. I can’t believe that my dad, who loves my mom so much, would want to divorce her for another woman.
“Do you think that mistress might be using some sort of negative item?” Vera’s voice sounded uncertain as she spoke.
Skylar could tell that Vera’s suspicion was mostly speculation. She wasn’t sure about the
situation.
Skylar quickly pieced together the situation from Vera’s anxious explanation.
After a few more questions, she concluded, “We can’t determine if a negative item is involved, but based on what you said, your father has been seeing someone for a while. It doesn’t seem like it’s related to a negative item.”
