It couldn’t just be that Skylar’s flight to Murida was canceled, leaving her feeling a bit down. After all these years as siblings, Charles understood Skylar’s personality all too well.
She wouldn’t look so lost and dejected if nothing serious had happened. It was clear to him that something was troubling her.
But since he was here today, he decided to stay and keep her company.
Charles decided to start cooking. He headed to the kitchen and rummaged through the fridge, which was stocked with a variety of fruits, vegetables, and meats.
He had everything he needed for today’s meal. An hour and a half later, the aroma of delicious
food filled the air.
Skylar returned to her bedroom and fell asleep. After a hazy nap, she awoke to the delightful aroma wafting through the air.
She slowly made her way downstairs.
Charles was just finishing setting the table when he spotted her. He called out, “Just in time! Come and taste my cooking.”
“Okay,” Skylar replied as she walked over. She glanced out the window and noticed the rain was still pouring.
The sky remained gloomy, and all the lights in the villa were turned on.
As she sat down, she noticed the beautifully presented dishes on the table. Although she hadn’t felt hungry at first, her appetite was suddenly piqued. “Charles, this looks amazing!“.
“Of course! The film crew hired a five–star chef to give me private lessons. I already knew how to cook a bit, but with a little guidance, look at how much better I’ve gotten,” Charles said confidently.
When he did something, he either didn’t do it at all or went all out to make it the best he could.
Skylar dug into her meal.
She nodded as she ate. “This is great! Your cooking has surpassed Steven’s now.”
“Steven has been too busy dating and planning his wedding lately to focus on improving his cooking skills,” Charles said, a hint of pride in his voice.
He was looking forward to showcasing his culinary talents when the family gathered for
Christmas.
“Have you started dating anyone recently, Charles?” Skylar asked.

Right now, aside from herself, Charles was the one causing the most concern for Janine.
Her situation was a bit complicated, but Charles was purely focused on his career. For some reason he despised the idea of dating.
Whenever Janine asked him about it, he would say that women these days had too many expectations, and he couldn’t keep up.
He thought it was better to focus on establishing himself in the entertainment industry than to ponder how to win over a woman. As a parent, Janine couldn’t help but worry.
Upon hearing the words “dating“, Charles waved his hand dismissively. “I don’t have time for that. You know, most of the girls I meet aren’t that simple, and I just can’t handle it. Besides, there’s no one who catches my eye right away.
“Since that’s the case, why not focus on my career? Steven is getting married. Harvey will probably find a girlfriend in a few years and get married too. Passing down the family legacy isn’t my responsibility. Staying single is much more carefree.”
After listening to Charles, Skylar understood. He was proudly single, seeing everyone else as just average.
“Charles, you make a good point,” she said. She was momentarily at a loss for words but came to that conclusion.
After all, he was right.
“Do you want to have a drink? I can keep you company, and when it stops raining tonight, I’ll just call a cab to get me home,” Charles offered.
