Chapter 1214
Janine felt relieved after hearing Skylar’s words. Ever since childhood, whenever Skylar made a decision, she followed through.
Now that Skylar said she wanted to move forward, it seemed that the past could truly be put
behind her.
This was a good thing.
As Janine and Skylar talked, the doorbell suddenly rang. Skylar immediately went to answer
the door.
Lizzie stood at the door. She wasn’t wearing a wig and was dressed casually, with sunglasses perched on her face. It was clear that she had rushed over.
Anyone who had never seen this side of Lizzie would surely not recognize her. After all, in all the performances and interviews, Lizzie always presented a different persona.
“There was a car accident on the way, and I got stuck in traffic. Can you please call Muriel for me?” Lizzie spoke to Skylar, her tone a bit tense.
Skylar just nodded.
Suddenly, there was a loud crash as a cup fell to the ground. Skylar quickly turned to see what had happened. Lizzie also glanced in that direction.
Muriel was completely unaware of the cup that had fallen. She stared at Lizzie in a daze. Their eyes met, locking in a moment of silence.
Other people heard the noise and rushed over. “Muriel, are you hurt?” one colleague asked.
“I’ll grab a broom.”
“Everyone stay still and don’t move around! The shards from the cup can be dangerous, and those without shoes on could get hurt easily,” someone warned.
A few colleagues scrambled to clean up the mess.
Muriel snapped back to reality and looked at the scattered shards. She turned to her colleague. “Sorry, I didn’t hold the cup steady.”
“It’s fine, as long as you’re okay,” her colleague replied with a reassuring smile.
Lizzie’s voice was slightly hoarse as she called out, “Muriel.”
Muriel felt her eyes welling up. “Can we go for a walk?”
Lizzie gazed intently at Muriel. After years apart, this was the first time they had met face to face and spoken directly to each other.
Chapter 1214
It had been so long since they had looked at each other like this and spoken. It felt as if a century had passed.
Muriel wanted to smile, but she couldn’t manage it, so she simply nodded.
Skylar, standing nearby, watched the two of them leave with a smile in her eye. When Lizzie glanced back at her, she silently mouthed, “Good luck, Lizzie.”
Lizzie smiled and nodded in response.
On a woodland path, the hot spring resort was peaceful under the night sky. Many of the villas were illuminated, showcasing the resort’s vibrant atmosphere. It was clear that the hot spring resort was thriving.
Not long after Lizzie and Muriel left, Skylar changed her clothes and stepped outside for a walk. She walked along the same path she had once taken with Joe.
The evening breeze was cool, so she tightened her windbreaker as she settled down to rest at a lakeside gazebo.
She didn’t need to worry about safety. The resort had security patrolling everywhere, and various high–definition cameras were set up throughout the area.
People would occasionally walk by.
