Chapter 1205
Aiken squinted at the car in front of him and turned to the person beside him. “Keep investigating those two.”
“Mr. Parkinson, do you think…”
“Yeah, something feels off. Continue the investigation,” Aiken said in a deep voice.
…
After a night of indulgence, Skylar woke up at Minerva’s house. The two of them had spent the previous night drinking together.
Although her tolerance for alcohol was still quite low, it had improved significantly compared to three years ago. It seemed they had drunk late into the night, and she had ended up sleeping in the guest room.
As she climbed out of bed, she realized Minerva had already prepared breakfast. Wearing an apron, Minerva looked like a devoted wife as she observed the hungover Skylar.
“I made you some breakfast -bolognese pasta. I didn’t add any seasoning because we drank too much last night. Your stomach will feel better after eating something comforting.”
Minerva, whoever marries you is going to be so lucky,” Skylar said as she approached the * table, marveling at the beautifully presented bolognese pasta.
She gave her a thumbs–up. This was a genuine compliment. She knew how to cook, so she understood how to make bolognese pasta.
They were topped with rich bolognese sauce made from tomatoes and ground meats, but Minerva had made them look exquisite. Even the grated cheese was arranged in a heart shape, making the dish look even more appetizing.
Minerva couldn’t stop smiling at the compliment. “I had to cook for myself while living abroad these past few years. I really couldn’t get used to the food there. At first, my cooking was terrible, but I started following various recipes.
“Thankfully, I’m not a kitchen disaster. Over time, I developed an interest, and my dishes became tastier.”
“So, you told me last night that your boyfriend initially liked coming over to your place for meals, and that’s how he gradually became attached to you, right?” Skylar asked with a laugh.
“Well… yes. We actually knew each other a long time ago, but I didn’t think much of him when we were in Jipsburg. He was the one who reminded me we were classmates and had met a few times before,” Minerva replied.
Back in college, she had a strict upbringing. At that time, she had a crush on Rowan. Hence,
her thoughts were only on him, leaving little room to notice anyone else.
The reason she developed feelings for Rowan was partly due to her family. Back in college, she had already learned that their families were set to arrange a marriage, and he was the chosen
one.
At that age, she was too young to fully understand her emotions. After meeting the charming and handsome Rowan, she was completely captivated, believing he would be the person she would spend her life with.
Skylar smiled and nodded. “Your relationship sounds so romantic.”
After washing her face and brushing her teeth, she walked out of the bathroom and immediately tasted the bolognese pasta that Minerva had made from scratch.
Although it was just bolognese pasta, it was rich in flavor, and she finished an entire bowl.
Minerva asked, “Do you have any plans for today? If not, could you come with me to pick out a dress? I need it for my engagement in a few days.”
Skylar shook her head. “I don’t have anything planned. I need to go to my company for dinner. My mom is hosting a company team–building event tonight, and as the behind–the–scenes boss, I have to attend.”
“Great!” Minerva exclaimed.
As Minerva went to her bedroom to change, Skylar unlocked her phone.
Suddenly, a news alert popped up. Sure enough, Ned had made the trending news due to his striking resemblance to Joe. Some mischievous individuals had even tagged Lizzie and Vera, urging them to confirm the similarity between Ned and Joe.
Just then, her phone rang.
