Anya was about to deny it. But after hearing Cassie mention Anthea, her face gradually turned cold. “What does it have to do with you?”
“It’s really none of my business, I just wanted to confirm my suspicions.” Cassie lowered her gaze and smiled softly. “After all, Anthea was known for her pure and innocent image as an actress, and I’d never heard that she had a child.”
Anya clenched her fists and stared fiercely at Cassie. “I should have killed you earlier!”
Cassie chuckled. “Kill me? Do you really think
you
can?”
“You only caught me by coincidence. Do you really think you’re that skilled?” Anya sneered.
“Fine, think whatever makes you happy. I don’t care.” Cassie looked up at her, her gaze suddenly ice-cold. “I’ll give you two choices now. Either you keep your mouth shut, and I’ll give Anthea a full month of online attention, exposing you as her illegitimate daughter.”
“How dare you!” snapped Anya.
Cassie chuckled coldly. “Why wouldn’t I? What do I lose by doing this, a limb?”
Anya’s eyes burned with anger as she looked at Cassie. “She’s already been driven to her death by Anne, and you still want her to find no peace even in death? You and your mother are truly heartless!”
“Why are you getting so worked up? I haven’t finished speaking yet. Isn’t there a second option for you?” Cassie remained
unaffected by her words.
“What’s the second option?” Anya asked.
“I know you’ve spent a lot of time and energy on your revenge, and I’m sure there are still pieces of your plan I haven’t uncovered yet. Although those won’t amount to much, I don’t want my mother’s life to be cluttered with your filth. If you dismantle every part of your scheme, I’ll let your mother rest in peace,” Cassie replied.
Anya glared at Cassie, gritting her teeth, her whole body shaking with rage.
She had put a lot of effort and resources into this plan, and just a moment ago, she was thinking that even if Cassie silenced her today, the others would still finish what she couldn’t.
But she never thought that the girl in front of her could be so clever.
No wonder her previous attempts had all failed!
“Cassie, don’t you want to know why I hate Anne so much and why I’m willing to risk everything for revenge?” Anya changed the topic.
She thought, ‘Even if my plan fails, I can still hurt Anne, even just a little.
“This girl is so fiercely protective of her mother. It must be because she doesn’t know her true nature.’
“You already said it. You think it was my mom who drove her to her death,” Cassie replied.
“It’s not just what I think, it’s the truth!” Anya said excitedly. “Back then, Anne competed with my mother for a role, forcing her to the brink. Anne is a ruthless woman who would stop at nothing to get what she wants! Do you even know how many people she’s wronged in the entertainment industry?”
Cassie responded with a cold, dismissive laugh. “You really love twisting the facts, don’t you? I’ve already asked around. What do you mean my mother competed for the role? Wasn’t she the director’s first choice? Wasn’t it Anthea who tried to steal the

role, even sleeping with the producer, only to be caught in the act by his wife, leading to her fall from the hotel? How exactly did my mother force her to her death?”
Anya was stunned when she heard this, then erupted hysterically “You’re lying, you’re deceiving! It was your mom who drove her to her death! Cassie, you have such a cruel heart. To protect your mom’s name, you’d blame someone who’s already gone!”
Cassie looked at the hysterical Anya with a calm indifference.
Without saying a word, she picked up the remote and turned on the television behind Anya.
“You b***h! How dare you sleep with my husband!” a woman’s furious scream echoed from the television.
Anya stiffened and turned her head.
The footage was old, grainy, and chaotic-recorded over two decades ago on a low-resolution camera.
A man and a woman lay in bed, visibly startled when the camera crew burst into the room. The woman quickly grabbed the blanket to cover herself.
Even though the image was blurry, Anya recognized her immediately.
“Anthea? I thought of you as my best friend, got you into my husband’s film crew, and this is how you repay me by sleeping with my husband!”A furious woman charged into the frame, lunging at Anthea.
Anthea was startled, dodging the woman’s grasp. She quickly got out of bed. “Your husband has so many women on the side, why are you only coming after me?”
“Ah!” the woman yelled in anger, grabbing the lamp from the nightstand and hurling it directly at Anthea.
“Are you crazy?” Anthea cursed, ducking the blows.
She tried to flee, but the door was blocked by the people the producer’s wife had brought with her.
Not wanting to get hit, Anthea ran toward the bathroom, but before she could reach it, the producer’s wife grabbed a golf club and swung it at her.
Anthea screamed and ran in a panic toward the hotel’s balcony.
The furious wife chased after her.
The two wrestled for a moment on the balcony before a horrifying scream echoed.
The cameraman rushed forward, capturing the scene that Anthea had fallen to her death.
Cassie paused the footage, tossing the remote aside. “See how she died now?”
“No! It’s not possible! This is fake! It can’t be real!” Anya shook her head, unable to accept what she was seeing.
She thought, “That’s not what Dad told me.
He said Mom is the kindest and most wonderful person in the world.
‘She was harmed by Anne!
“Anne pressured her!” Anya shouted loudly. “If Anne hadn’t competed with her, she wouldn’t have lowered herself to sleeping with a producer, and she wouldn’t have died. So it’s still Anne’s fault! It’s her fault!”
“If that’s how you want to see it, I don’t care,” Cassie said coldly. “I’ve shown you everything. Now, make a choice.”

“Didn’t we agree to protect each other?” Cassie said softly. “If it were you today, wouldn’t you have done your best to protect
me too?”
“Yes,” Anne nodded.
“I’m staying with you tonight,” Cassie then said.
Anne was surprised, her heart filled with emotion. The last time, Cassic couldn’t accept it and refused to sleep by her side.
It was late at night.
Anne took some sleeping pills and quickly drifted into a deep sleep.
Cassie carefully got up and went to the living room.
There were two missed calls on the phone in the living room–both were from Joe.
Cassie called him back.
The phone was answered immediately.
“Ms. Murphy, are you alright?” Joe asked.
“I’m fine,” Cassie replied. “My mom was here just now, sorry about that.”
“It’s okay, as long as you’re alright. Someone told me earlier that you had a long cut on your arm, from your elbow to your wrist. I almost had a heart attack,” Joe replied.
Cassie said, “Well, yeah, that happened, but it’s not that serious. Just a scratch.”
On the other end of the line, Joe sounded like he was about to faint. “Oh no! My career is over tonight!”
“It’s not that bad. I’ll explain it to Marcus. Besides, you guys weren’t with me tonight anyway,” Cassie comforted gently.
“You don’t understand.” Joe was almost in tears. “Our boss, he…”
“What about him?” Cassie asked.
“Never mind. I should start learning how to fish. I’ll just stay here and become an islander,” Joe answered.
