Chapter 115
The hotel Cassie was in had a public viewing deck on every floor, and by this hour, it was deserted.
A figure anxiously paced in a corner, trying to make a phone call that no one answered.
“Who are you calling this late?” A chilly voice suddenly sounded behind her.
Startled, she turned around. “Cassie, didn’t you go back to your room? What are you doing out here?”
“Just out here ghost hunting,” Cassie replied, emphasizing every word.
Monica’s face paled slightly as she forced a smile, “Is this some new game you kids are into? I don’t get it. I’ll head back to my
room now.”
Just as she turned to leave, Larry entered with a few bodyguards, blocking her way.
“Cassie, what do you mean by this?” Monica asked, frowning.
Cassie glanced at Monica’s phone. “Who were you calling so late?”
“My kid at home,” Monica answered.
“Oh really? Let me see,” Cassie said, reaching out her hand.
Monica’s frown deepened. “Cassie, I don’t know what you’re up to, but I’m not a servant of the Murphy family. It’s my off duty time, and I don’t have to obey you.”
Cassie chuckled softly. Monica felt a chill run down her spine.
Cassie said, “Monica, did you honestly think I brought them here just to hang out with you?” Cassie stated clearly. “Are you calling your son, or is it someone else? You know the answer.”
Monica swallowed nervously. “I don’t know what you’re talking about. Please move; I need to go rest now.”
“Who’s that short, chubby guy with the small eyes to you?” Cassie asked directly.
Monica visibly stiffened. “I don’t know who you’re talking about.”
“Do you know why I’m looking for this person?” Cassie asked slowly.
Monica remained silent, her expression growing more anxious.
“Last night, a lunatic tried to kill my mom. Today, someone brought her a bouquet covered in lily pollen on set, and there was a prop error in the B team where she was supposed to be. If filming continues, that faulty prop could fall on her.”
As Monica listened, her shock deepened.
“Someone’s trying to harm her.” Cassie moved closer to Monica. “The prop team in Group B said it was that short, chubby guy who instructed them to do this. I suspect he’s behind all these incidents!”
-“Impossible!” Monica exclaimed, fear evident in her voice.
Cassie tilted her head, “Didn’t you say you didn’t know him? Why is it impossible then?”
“Ms. Murphy, I don’t know if you’re talking about the same person, but he’s a good man. He would never do such things!” Monica insisted, her voice trembling.

“Who is he?” Cassie’s expression turned icy.
Monica looked completely at a loss.
“Think about your kids. I don’t have much patience left,” Cassie warned.
Monica’s fear escalated. “Ms. Murphy, what do you mean?”

Cassie replied, “Even though I detest this kind of thing, nothing is more important than my mom’s safety. If we can’t find this creep, he might target her again. When it comes down to it, I’ll always choose my mom’s safety over anyone else’s.”
“No! You can’t harm my kids!” Monica quickly said.
“Then tell me who this man is and where he is right now!” Cassie commanded sharply.
Monica hesitated, then trembled as she spoke. “His name is Zepher. I met him at the airport when I went abroad with Anne for a charity event the winter before last. After getting to know each other, we started officially dating.”
“How much have you told him about my mom?” Cassie asked.
“Not much. I’ve never shared anything private. He only asked occasionally about her, and it was just trivial stuff!” Monica defended Zepher. “He works in autism rehabilitation; he’s genuinely a good person. You must be mistaken! He can’t be the one who wants to hurt Anne.”
“Where is he now?” Cassie asked coldly.
“He’s been busy these days, and so have I. We haven’t really been in touch…” Monica’s voice faltered. “I tried calling him earlier, but he didn’t answer.”
Cassie reached out, and Larry handed her a phone.
Cassie extended her hand, and Larry handed her a phone. “Enter his number.”
“Ms. Murphy, it can’t be him!” Monica panicked, nearly in tears.
“Enter it,” Cassie repeated firmly.
With no other choice, Monica reluctantly input Zepher’s number.
“Until we sort this out, you can’t continue working with my mom. I’ll make sure your child is taken care of. As long as you weren’t involved in harming her, they’ll be fine,” Cassie swiftly typed on her phone.
“Are you going to lock me up?” Monica gasped.
“Don’t like it?” Cassie shot back, her gaze icy. “If Zepher is the culprit, then any information about my mom would have come from you, making you an accomplice.”
“It’s not like that…” Monica said.
“Larry, she’s in your hands now,” Cassie said, turning her focus back to her phone as she walked away.
“Ms. Murphy! You can’t treat me like this!” Monica called after her.
Cassie turned back, her voice cold. “As a mother, you should think more about your child before you act. Stay quiet.”
Monica was stunned on the spot. Cassie walked away without looking back.
Without further resistance, Monica quietly let Larry take her away.

Chapter 115
After settling things with Monica, Larry went straight to Cassie’s room.
“Miss, is there anything you need me to do?” He asked.
Cassie had switched from her phone to her computer. Larry wasn’t very good at computers.
e noticed that Cassie’s laptop seemed rugged, not at all what one would expect from a typical girl’s device.
It wasn’t cute at all.

“Wait a moment,” Cassie said, her expression serious. “The identity linked to this number isn’t Zepher. It belongs to someone who doesn’t match the description at all. He likely used someone else’s information to get this phone card.”
“If Monica wasn’t lying, he had been planning this since the winter before last to get close to her!” Larry remarked.
Cassie didn’t respond. This phone number led to nothing but fake autism organizations. It seemed clear that this number was only for contacting Monica. They did it neatly, but there had to be leads.
Cassie quickly pinpointed the last location where the phone signal was detected. Indeed, it was on this island!
“His girlfriend is here, and he’s here too, yet he won’t meet or answer calls,” Cassie coldly chuckled. “This pretty much confirms it’s him.”
“I asked Monica earlier. This guy claims he has a fear of photos, so he never took pictures with her,” Larry said, his expression serious. “Also, he almost never meets her in public, making it hard to find any surveillance footage.”
“Love really can blind people. Even someone as sharp as Monica, a savvy career woman, can’t see what’s off,” Cassie observed.
“Or maybe they’re all in on it together,” Larry suggested.
Cassie shook her head dismissively. “Monica has a child. When she fought for custody, she ended up with almost nothing. For her kid’s sake, she wouldn’t take such risks.”
“Yeah,” Larry nodded in agreement.
“And… Zepher doesn’t seem like the mastermind. He’s probably just a pawn,” Cassie continued.
“How do you know?” Larry asked.
“John,” Cassie thought of this person and instinctively frowned. “He has a big issue with men, so the person coaxing him must be a woman.”
“But hasn’t he killed a lot of women? Wouldn’t that mean he has issues with women?” Larry asked
“The women he targets are those he sees as unfaithful. To him, unfaithfulness stems from other men.” Cassie replied.
“Oh, I see…” Larry said, still a bit confused.
Cassie closed her eyes, trying to organize her chaotic thoughts. “The answer must be nearby. I need to stay calm and think this through.”
“If all else fails, we can just tell your father,” Larry suggested.
“If he finds out, my mom’s movie will be ruined. We need to resolve this before they know,” Cassie firmly shook her head.
No matter what their intentions might be,
If Anne leaves the crew in the end, that
person
wins.

She would become even more aggressive afterward!
“If there’s anything you need done, just tell me. Don’t take risks yourself,” Larry advised.
Cassie smiled reassuringly, “Got it! You go rest. If I need anything, I’ll call you.”
“Sure.” Larry replied and then left the room.
Cassie leaned back against the soft sofa cushions, her mind racing with thoughts.
She thought, ‘Who can it be?’
Suddenly, she sat up, realizing she had been led by the killer’s manipulations all along.
She thought, ‘Why had I been so focused on those few events, revolving around that man that I had overlooked what I should’ve prioritized now.
‘I should investigate the people around Anne who had suspicious motives!’
Quickly, she called back Larry, who had just left.
After giving him a series of instructions, she decided to call Joe for extra help, thinking Larry might be too slow on his own.
The night was deep and quiet.

Joe and Larry’s teams were busy working all night long.
Meanwhile, Monica, who had been locked up all night, finally realized that her seemingly kind boyfriend might actually have many suspicious traits.
