Chapter 74
He opened the door to his house and I took his hand again. The question had been on my mind the whole way home.
“Can I sleep with you tonight?” I asked him stepping in front of him making him stop, he looked down at me giving me a disapproving look. I felt like I had asked my dad if I could sleep with Dez instead of Dez.
“Only if you promise not to try anything” he answered giving me the look.
“That’s no fun” I replied grinning at him and turning around making my way to his room. He stayed in the kitchen for a little while, I striped and put on one of my sweaters. I climbed in his bed snuggling into the soft covers and fluffy pillows I curled into a tight ball inhaling his scent that was everywhere, I eventually fell asleep.
I woke up in the middle of the night looking at the clock, it was 2 in the morning. I sat up and felt around for Dez, the sheets were cold so I knew he wasn’t just getting up to go to the bathroom or something I got up and peeked in the hallway finding the dim glow of the kitchen light in at the end of the hallway. I sighed and went to the kitchen, Dez was sitting there both his hands shoved in his hair.
“Dez what are you doing?” I asked yawning rubbing my eyes that burned because of the light, he looked up at me not replying. I went and turned the light off and took his hand making him get up and follow me to bed. I climbed in bed and turned on my back waiting for him giving him a tired but expectant look. He looked at me like he was sizing me up, I realized what he was doing.
“I’m too tired to seduce you, get in bed” I said, he nodded. Jesus was he that afraid of sex? I waited for him to pull his shirt off and then his pants I watched appreciatively fighting to keep my eyes opened. He climbed in bed next to me. I didn’t push it by scooting over and cuddling with him. Just being close to him was enough, even though I wanted so much more. I curled back up and went back to sleep.
I woke up again and breathed in deeply, I opened my eyes fully seeing Dez laying there on his side already looking at me, I gave him a confused look.
“You were talking in your sleep again” he told me. I groaned and turned over pulling the sheet over my head trying to savor any amount of sleep I could, I could hear him chuckle lightly and that sound put me on a high.
I was unfortunately awake now, and I couldn’t get back to sleep I sighed in contempt at the warmness, and I didn’t mean because of the amount of body heat that Dez puts off which is almost too much. I turned my head looking at him, he was still watching.
“Are you in control right now?” I asked him, just curious, he nodded his head.
“Am I allowed to seduce you now?” I asked him playfully.

“I wish you wouldn’t” he replied.
“Why are you so afraid of sex?” I asked him, he rolled his eyes.
“I’m not afraid of sex Kendal, I’m just afraid I’m going to hurt you if we have sex”
“And that ill get pregnant” I mumbled into the sheets.
He sighed ” Kendal I don’t trust myself enough to put myself in that situation with you, fi I hurt you because I lost control I don’t know what I would do” I sighed loudly at his honest words. His motives were pure but I was still annoyed.
“I trust you” I offered, he let out a low growl.
“You shouldn’t” he said bitterly.
“you make sex sound so complicated” I grumbled. I stayed silent a little longer waiting for him to get up and have to go to work or something, oddly enough he didn’t move. I got up and went and brushed my teeth, the mirror was foggy so I guess Dez had already gotten up and taken a shower. I went back expecting to find him gone but he was still there, but on his back now looking over at me.
“When are you going to trust yourself?” I asked him, I knew I was acting like a child but I didn’t really care, I climbed back in bed.
“We’ll see”
“What does that mean?” I said turning over on my stomach resting my head in my hands letting my legs swing in the air.
“I need to learn to control myself around you” he told me.
“You seem fine” I mused, he rolled his eyes.
“Guess you’ll just have to spend a lot of time with me” I sighed dramatically, he gave me a small smile, I returned.
“And you’ll be keeping your hands to yourself” he said giving me a look raising an eyebrow.
“No promises” I replied giving him a sweet smile. I sat up sitting next to him.
“You’re supposed to be helping” he told me.
“That’s no fun” I said.
