Chapter 8
Silan stumbled back to Flora White’s private den. She was lounging comfortably on the wolf–hide sofa,
sipping moonberry nectar in a revealing silk nightgown.
When she saw him, she quickly stood up and, as usual, pouted playfully.
“Alpha, you’re finally back. I’ve been waiting forever! You need to make it up to me.”
To her surprise, Silan brushed her hand away coldly.
“When did you send those rune–marked photos to Laurel? Who gave you the authority to do that?”
She froze for a moment, pretending to look confused.
“What photos? I don’t know what you’re talking about.”
As she spoke, she tugged her nightgown lower, showing off her cleavage, and purred seductively.
“Forget about that. Look at my new nightgown. Don’t you want to try it out?”
Silan threw a stack of enchanted photos at her, his voice filled with fury.
“Are you incapable of anything but seduction? Look at these! Open your eyes and explain yourself!”
The angles of the photos made it clear they could only have been taken by someone with intimate access to their lives. Flora was the only plausible culprit.
Her face paled, but she still refused to admit anything. She picked up the photos, glanced at them, and retorted stubbornly.
“How would I know who took these? Maybe Laurel found out about us and hired a tracker from her
pack.”
Silan’s hand shot out, grabbing her by the throat, his tone dangerously low.
“Don’t you dare blame her! Do you know how much humiliation you caused me today?”
“Why the hell did you record those moments of our bond–breaking ritual? I didn’t know you had such disgusting habits.”
He had never used the pack’s memory crystals to record such intimate moments himself, leaving Flora as- the only explanation.

Terrified, Flora clawed at his hand, choking out pleas for mercy.
“Let me go…” cough… “I can’t breathe…” cough
Silan finally released her, and she collapsed onto the floor, coughing violently.
As she caught her breath, his voice cut through the room like a blade.
“I won’t repeat myself. If you don’t come clean, you’ll regret it.”
Flora glared at him, her bitterness spilling out.
“Why did I do it? Isn’t it because of you?”
“You want to have it all–me, her, your perfect little pack. If you had come clean with her earlier, none of this would’ve happened!”
“This mess is all your fault. If you could control your wolf’s urges, we wouldn’t be in this situation!”
Silan’s face turned red with rage. He picked Flora up and threw her onto the ceremonial stone bed, pinning her down.
“If I’m ruined, you’re coming down with me! Let’s see how deceitful you really are!”
He tore at her clothes in fury, his eyes filled with a mix of hatred and madness.
Flora screamed, terrified. “Stop! You’re insane! I’ll call the pack enforcers!”
Their loud argument caught the attention of the neighboring wolves, and someone summoned the
enforcers.
I learned about the incident when I received a call from the pack authorities.
“Luna Grant, your mate had a dispute with a she–wolf. Could you please come to the station?”
I hadn’t planned to go, but curiosity got the better of me.
When I arrived, Silan was sitting in a corner, his tunic in tatters and his face stormy.
Flora, equally disheveled, was wrapped in a pack enforcer’s jacket, sobbing dramatically.
Silan glanced at me but said nothing, knowing there was no defense for his actions.
A pack enforcer approached and explained,
“Luna Laurel, according to the woman, your mate attempted to dominate her against her will. We’ll need

to detain him for an investigation. Please sign here to confirm your understanding.”
Silan quickly jumped to his own defense.
“I didn’t try to dominate her! She’s lying! Laurel, you have to believe me!”
I raised an eyebrow, surprised by how quickly they had turned on each other.
After signing the documents, I learned the full story from the enforcer.
When trouble struck, their bond crumbled instantly.
Silan’s temporary absence worked perfectly for me. His pack’s influence was weakening, and I took the opportunity to stake my claim.
By the time Silan was released, I had become the second–in–command of his pack through strategic acquisitions of territory and alliances.
When he found out, he was stunned.
“How is this possible? Where did you get the resources?”
In his mind, I was nothing more than a mate relegated to den duties, someone he had long dismissed as insignificant.
I remained silent as my beta stepped in.
“Our Luna is the Alpha of the Oakwood Pack. Of course, she has the resources to make these moves. You shouldn’t be surprised.”
“Besides, your pack wouldn’t exist today without Oakwood’s initial support. You should be thanking her.”
Silan stared at me in disbelief, finally realizing the depth of his ignorance.
“So you’re from the Oakwood Pack? That alliance back then–it was all because of you?”
I nodded, and my beta smirked as she added,
“If it weren’t for our Alpha, do you think anyone would have supported your fledgling pack? You’ve really overestimated yourself.”
Her sharp words were cathartic, so I let her continue, silently watching her vent on my behalf.
