Chapter 60
Who was she? That seemed to be the question running on all their minds. The meeting had ended and all the alphas had come out to find their mates, they all greeted them with quick pecks and sat down pulling their mates into them. They sat in silence, staring at her. Who did she belong to? Every alpha had a mate
on their arm, but she was lonesome.
She was fast asleep in one of the black reclining chairs, she was curled into a small tight ball.
“Who is she?” Derek voiced quietly so he wouldn’t wake her. The scent radiating off her was powerful enough for them to know not to disturb her small peaceful figure.
“I don’t know, definitely not an alpha mate” Andre answered not taking his eyes off her.
“She smells like one” Derek replied.
“Too small, she doesn’t look strong enough to handle an alpha” he whispered, his mate nudged him in the ribs at the comment, she herself was smaller than most but not a small as the girl.
“She has a mark” Sam stated getting up to get a closer look, he stood over her peering down at her. Their thoughts were interrupted by a loud snarl that made them all freeze. All their hearts had jumpstarted and every fiber in the being was yelling at them to run, that was the sound of the most powerful alpha in the world’s growl and it was directed at them. They all snapped to attention, the males‘ stood up, bowing their heads respectfully.
Alpha Collins didn’t give them a second look he didn’t nod his head respectfully back, in fact he didn’t do anything his attention seemed to be elsewhere. Particularly on the very small sleeping figure of the girl. He shoved Sam roughly who had already backed up. He looked down at her with something than his normal cold hearted stare that would make the toughest surrender in just one look.
He cast a glance around the room, judging each of them. He knew if any of them breathed a word about this outside of their pack, Kendal would be in more danger than she already was. These thoughts made him tense even more and feel the need to pick her up to make sure she was exactly where he wanted her to be. He was looking down at her sleeping now.
He nudged her awake lightly “Kendal” he said lowly, she let out a small groan that almost sent him over the edge, he clenched his jaw and closed his eyes gathering all his self–control. He always had to make sure he was completely in charge and completely in control around her or the worst could happen.
“Kendal” he repeated, she breathed in deeply opening her eyes then squeezing them shut, she reached her arms out wrapping them around his neck and he carefully picked her up and took her from the room away from the Alpha’s who all stood still in shock, frozen in amazement.
Dezmond Collins had a mate.

Chapter 60
Kendal’s POV (:
I woke up in a bed, I checked the time seeing it was about 3, I groaned and collapsed back on the comfortable pillows, I froze realizing I was in Dez’s bed, I bunched up his sheets breathing in deeply his amazing scent. I gathered all the pillows and blankets from the bed and pulled them to the middle of it and snuggled into a ball under them.
This was the life.
I knew now that I was comfortable I wouldn’t be able to go to sleep and my thoughts would overtake my brain so I decided to just skip the trying to sleep part and went straight to thinking. I thought about three things mostly.
The first was obviously about how Dez had confessed how he cared for me. And how nothing between us had changed. I thought about this and it made me wonder how long Dez had known this before he decided to tell me. I didn’t know where we were going from here. I looked over the small things I had taken note of the past day. Like how he occasionally spoke to me voluntarily and how he let me go with him to the meeting even thought I fell asleep. These may seem like stupid ordinary things but for Dez they were big progress. I wondered how we were going to be in the future.
Were we going to mate and have kids and he would change and become affectionate and empathetic or would we do this same routine over and over and until I had finally had enough and rejected him. Even the thought of rejecting him sent a pain through my chest and I quickly shot down the idea. The only way I was giving up on him was if I was dead and gone.
Which brought me to the second thing I spent time thinking about. The guy who dropped off the package, he had mentioned what Dez had been hiding from me. I pondered this for a while. Was Dez hiding something from me? Or was this guy just trying to get in my head which he had obviously accomplished, but if Dez really was hiding something from me, how would I find out. The obvious answer was to ask the guy but I felt like that’s what he wanted me to do. He wanted me to play his game in order to find out what I wanted. But what if he was making it up just so I’d do that?
