“Can I help you?” she asked glancing u pat me and then turning her attention back down to the food. I shook my head and then started helping.
“Oh no I have it than-”
“Its fine” I assured her, letting the food in front of me take my mind off things. I helped getting to know the women, they were all very nice and let me help in any way I could. They thanked me and put me to
work.
“Luna?” I heard and automatically turned at the horrid entitlement. I saw Atticus.
“What’re you doing?” he asked.
“I’m cooking Atticus what does it look like?” I asked turning my attention back to what I was doing.
“I’m sorry” Anne from next to who was mixing muffin batter said touching my forearm lightly, I looked up at her.
“You’re the luna?” she asked.
“Uh, yeah” I said nodding.
“What are you doing in here Luna?” Renee asked, Whitney just looked at me with wide eyes.
“Luna we have it you don’t need to help” Anne said taking the spoon from my hand. They were all still
staring at me shock in their eyes. What was so shocking?
“No I want to help” I said stubbornly taking it back and returning my attention to putting the batter in the
tins to make muffins. I realized the it was dead silent instead of the usual bustle of the kitchen I heard, I
stopped and they were all still staring at me.
“What?” I asked.
“Its just…” Renee trialed off.
“Never mind” Anne said shaking her head and turning back to what she was doing. They all slowly started cooking again until they were back at their normal pace. I took all the plates and bowl of food to the table where people were already starting to sit. They dug in as I brought out more.
One large man caught my wrist as I set bacon down, I looked down at it before looking to him.
“C–Can I help you?” I asked his grip on my wrist was tight.

“Are you new?” he asked, I shook my head.
“Then who are you?” he asked.
“Ke-”
“Luna” I heard from behind me and turned around seeing Brewer there a puzzled look on his face, I heard a few gasps. Which surprised me they didn’t know who I was since Dez had showed me off in front of everyone that one time. Why does everyone keep doing that? It’s getting irritating. Where they surprised I was a luna- not that I was. Or that I was helping make breakfast?
“Kendal” I heard a small voice say from behind me, I turned around my eyes trailing down to see Violet
standing there beaming at me.
“Violet!” I said happily dropping to my knees as she launched herself in my arms, I wrapped her in a tight hug pulling her away looking at her. She looked so much healthier and happier. Her skin was a now a cute tanned peach, her face was full and rosy. Her eyes were bright and her skin wasn’t bony she had gained weight. I kissed her cheek pulling back into another tight hug, she giggled in my ear.
“How’s school?” I asked.
“I have two friends Kelsey and Ashley” she said her huge smile making one of my own appear.
“Really?” I asked enthusiastically pinching her pink cheek, she swatted my hand away giggling again.
“Trinity told me to mind my manners and not to come see you but I told her-”
“you can come see me any time, you know where the alphas office is Dez knows where I am” I told her breathless, still excited to see how much better and happier she looked. She looked like a normal child her age, and so full of life. I could feel my heart clench at the thought that she was with better people and in a caring home that would be good for her and raise her right. I looked up seeing a woman stand behind her, I recognized her as Trinity.
I stood up sticking my hand out, she shook it.
“Thank you so much for what you’ve done for her” I told her giving her a small smile looking at Violet
who now had her hand in mine.
“You saved her” she said quietly to me, I was about to respond but Violet had clutched herself to my legs.
“Can I stay with you today?” she begged.
Trinity gasped “Violet that’s rude honey” she told her, I laughed.
“No, absolutely can she?” I asked remembering mid–sentence I now had to ask permission. Trinity looked down to Violet I knew she was going to say yes I could see it in her eyes.

“Please” Violet pleaded in her small cute voice that seemed hard to resist.
“As long as she’s not a bother” she said, I grinned assuring her she wouldn’t be and that I would have her back by lunch time, Violet let out a small victory cry and started dragging me out of the room. I followed until she stopped in the living room.
“Can I stay with you the whole day? Please” she asked me swinging our hands as we walked.
“Trinity wants you back by lunch, but I tell you what, if she’ll let you, you can help me make dinner and we can invite Trinity” I suggested feeling that she probably had her hands full with Violet and dinner might be nice without her slaving over it.
