“Here” he said thrusting it in my hands.
“Why?” I asked looking down at it, he didn’t reply and just gave me an impatient look, so I went back to my room and took my hoodie off and pulled my bra back on and the shirt and panties, realizing I didn’t have pants. I went back to the kitchen where Dez was getting more and more impatient.
“I don’t have pants” he just went out the door leaving it opened and I followed closing it. He opened the door to the passenger side of the truck and went around to the driver’s side getting in, I carefully climbed in the seat, and he drove to his pack house. I followed him in trying to keep up with him, he walked in his office flicking lights on and motioned for me to sit in one of the chair. He sat down and started pulling
papers out.
I sat there silently and watched him work, I admired his facial features, and loved the sound of his voice when he took a phone call, or Michael stopped in to tell him something. He left a few times, just telling me. to stay put, and he stationed guards outside the door. He left because of some prisoner or something, I guess I drifted off because I woke up on the couch in his office with a blanket thrown over me. I stretched letting out a small moan and sat up seeing Dez with his eyes already on me, I smiled at him and he shook his head looking back down to his work.
I was starving I got up and his eyes snapped to me, following me.
“Kitchen?” I questioned, expecting him to make Michael go with me.
“Down the hall” he answered.”
“I can go alone?” I asked in surprise.
“Only if you promise to scream or run to me if you get into trouble” he said looking up at me, why is he so attractive just why, I could feel my heart hammering in my chest.
“Okay” I said standing up.
I left going down the hallway to the kitchen. I opened the refrigerator looking through the contents, I looked through the cabinets and decided to just make eggs. I cracked a few in a bowl, and accidently dropped one cursing under my breath looking at the mess, I grabbed the last of the paper towels cleaning it realizing I needed more.
I checked in the pantry for paper towels, not finding any, I opened the cabinet under the sink and jumped back letting out a small yelp of surprise, slapping my hand over my mouth seeing a small girl in the cabinet. She was cute, she had an adorable round face with blonde ringlets and dark blue eyes. Her eyes widened looking up at me. I took a deep breath once my heartbeat got back on track.

I bent down looking at her. “What are you doing down here sweetheart?” I asked holding my hand out for her, she cringed away from me, I chewed on my lip.
“Come here I’m not going to hurt you” I coaxed she looked at me with her bright blue eyes, I noticed she had a runny nose and grabbed the paper towels next to her and wet one reaching in she flinched away
from me.
“It’s okay” I cooed wiping her nose.
“Come here” I said in a soothing voice, I didn’t grab her and drag her out, with a little more cooing and coaxing she slowly came out.
“What’s your name sweetheart?” I asked brushing a ringlet from her face, she flinched as I did, she didn’t answer and I wondered if she could talk.
“I’m Kendal” I offered.
“What were you doing under there?” I asked speaking softly, so I wouldn’t alarm her. She just blinked at
- me.
“Where you hiding from someone?” I asked, her eyes got wide telling me that I was correct. It was then I noticed the bruise on her arm. It was the outline of a handprint printed on her ivory skin in purple and black. I could feel anger rising in my chest. I gasped looking down seeing more.
Someone had abused this little girl.
“I’m not going to hurt you” I promised her “Do you know who did that to you?” I asked touching the bruise softly, I knew this was a serious moment but I could feel my nose burning with the need to cry. I could remember my childhood and it had played out probably similar to hers. Her eyes watered, making
me sniff.
“Where you hiding from the person who did that to you” she gave me a small nod, I was mad. In fact, I was furious.
“Can you tell me who did it sweetheart?” I asked running my thumb over her cheeks, tears spilled on them and she flung herself in my arms crying. I gasped in surprise
and wrapped my arms around her tightly, she didn’t cry long or hard, just a few tears then she had hers arms wrapped around my neck and was playing with my hair.
“Violet!” I heard a woman yell and she jumped in my arms and her body started trembling.
“Violet!” I heard the woman scream again until she appeared in the doorway, her eyes narrowed at me.
