“Straight to the point kind of woman, I like.” He said winking at me holding out his arm, I glanced down at it quizzically.
Finally, he dropped it when he realized I was a lost cause and I got in his truck and we were off, trailing behind Dez’s truck. I felt so uncomfortable, and I was scared out of my mind. Eric texted me back and asked where I was and I said that I was in a truck and he started nonstop calling me. Finally, after a long while we pulled up to this really nice house, I assumed was a pack house because of the size.
I followed him up the marble stairs in the front, past the great big white columns into the double French doors and then up the wooden staircase. Drew and Dez both disappeared into a set of double doors at the top of the stairs while setting me on a bench just outside the door. I sat there for around 15 minutes before a random man came to get me and brought me into the room.
It was simple, there was a long table, full of business men in suits all eyes on me as I walked in the door. The only available seat was to Dez’s right and I cursed in my head but sat down.
“As stated before Collins, technically, she is yours meaning if you give her to us, then your debt will be settled.” The man at the head of the table stated. His voice held power and authority. I could feel anger rising in my chest. I was “technically” his? Who the fuck are these people? I wasn’t anyone’s technically or not. I didn’t belong to anyone. Dez scoffed from next to me.
“I don’t owe you shit.” Dez replied, by the shifting around the table I could tell that man wasn’t talked to like that. He raised an eyebrow slightly but simple shifted in his seat leaning forward, not phased by the
disrespect.
“We know you don’t want any part in this war Collins.” He responded, almost daring Dez to counter what
he had stated.
“She’s yours to do as you please.” He finally reminded, and a sickening feeling dropped in my stomach. I remember when those exact words had been repeated to me. The bubble of anger in my chest seemed to
catch in my throat.
“I don’t belong to anyone, Dezmond sure as hell doesn’t own me, so who the fuck are you and why am I here?” I finally said looking down the table at him questionably. I legitimately heard a gasp and it got so silent you could hear a mouse rustle in the grass 3 miles away. Dez’s hand immediately dropped to my thigh and he squeezed. His hand on my skin sent shockwaves to my core, and the warmth started to radiate through my body.
“Do you know who that is?” Drew asked me from across the table, I rolled my eyes.
“Do I care?” I responded, I had no idea where my confidence or bitchyness came from, every person in the room was staring at me with wide eyes. To my surprise the man at the end of the table smiled, and

then his smile turned into a laugh.
“Well my, my I understand why she’s so wanted now, I’m sure you had a fun time putting her in her place” he said talking about me like I wasn’t there, I could feel heat go across my skin. This guy really had
some nerve.
“Jealousy isn’t a good look Caine” was all Dez said lowly, not bothering to look in my direction.
“Well hopefully, if you agree to our-”
“You can’t have her Caine, renegotiate.” Dez finally stated firmly.
“Why not?” he asked looking generally disappointed and upset “I’ve heard she’s not your little toy anymore, she’s making her way around the family tree.” He said glancing at me. Anger flared through me, I stood up abruptly.
“Yeah Dezmond, why not? You don’t care about me.” I said tauntingly.
“Don’t tempt me pup” he growled at me, and I snarled back.
“I’m fucking leaving.” I said casting a last glance at the man at the head of the table, I walked out the double doors and down the stairs, the second I got to the door a hand went over my mouth and someone jerked me back into a hallway to the right of a door, I was slammed against the wall knocking the breath out of me, and there was Dezmond. I slammed my hands against his chest trying to shove him off me, but he didn’t even budge in the slightest. He pulled his hand away from my mouth and then quickly dove down and connected our lips.
Pure bliss smothered me, I felt like all the weight on my shoulders released. Warmth filled in my chest, and I let out a soft moan, his soft lips molded to mine perfectly. I continued to fight him, trying to shove him away, he grabbed my hands and shoved them behind me pinning them to the wall, the shock of the kiss wore off. I struggled for a minute against him, still trying to get away from him, but I could feel the tingles shoot through my body and then my limbs felt weaker and weaker until I was pushing myself against him, the feel of me against him was enough to make my heart stop.
