My dad was leaning against his desk and looked pissed off, he was red in the face which made me think he had been yelling. Jay was against a wall his arms crossed over his chest, and Eric was a few feet from my dad and he was so mad he was shaking, I was afraid he was about to shift right here.
They all turned to look at me, there was a man, he look average size for a warrior. He had blonde hair slicked back and looked completely calm which scared me a little, his eyes were a maroon color. He looked me up and down slowly, my eyes just went to Jay who had his jaw clenched but didn’t say anything, he didn’t look at me his eyes were on the man in front of me.
“You must be Kendal” he said smoothly, “I’m Drew” he said taking a step forward with his hand out, the second he took the step Eric was in front of him shoving him back and Jay had come off the wall and made the distance to me, and my dad’s loud intimidating growl filled the room. The man was still calm and collected but now a large smile had crept its way on his face and he looked scary. Jay pulled me into his arms and I stayed there hiding in his chest.
“As I was saying, this is a simple misunderstanding. I realize that she means a lot to each of you but we had a deal, and his part of the deal wasn’t paid, therefore we get the girl” he said icily, his eyes flicking to me. I had a sickening feeling that I was the girl. A deal? He had a deal with who?
“Dezmond Collins wasn’t the only one he was making deals with. Nate agreed to send, supplies, money, warriors, support and women to fund our war against the demons, she was collateral, he has stopped his part and now we must collect.” He said coolly. Nate? My stepfather Nate? Nate made the deal with Dez for
peace, his offering was Hannah. Was he saying that he offered these people me, to keep peace between them?
Jay let me go almost instantaneously, and he started to laugh. But his laugh was a wicked laugh, it made my stomach drop.
“Do you know who the fuck you’re talking to?” Jay demanded, his voice was deadly. “You can go back and tell your Alpha to fuck off, he doesn’t know who the fuck he’s dealing with” Jay said, his voice was cool and collected and intimidating. It made the temperature of the room drop a few degrees. There was an underlying threat to his light suggestion. I had never heard him talk like that, it made my stomach twist. I was scared, I could even see my father’s eyes widen slightly. I found it within myself to look up at Jay instead of automatically submitting at the sound and feeling of his authority.
His eyes were dark and his face was darker, I could actually compare him to a demon now. He looked like he was ready to kill, I could feel myself shaking. I could see my dad regain his composure and I could actually breathe, I could feel adrenaline pumping through my system making the shaking worse. I felt my primal instincts preparing me to run after what I had just witnessed.
“The contract is terminated, end of discussion.” My dad told him.

“Are you sure you want to start this war?” the guy asked him, he actually looked a little riled His

kept flicking to Jay alarmingly.
“All of this over one little girl?” he said looking at me “Why are you so special sweetie?” he asked me, Jay’s loud growl filled the room, I couldn’t breathe, the power rolling off him was suffocating.
“The mate of Dezmond Collins, the daughter of KC Westbrook, and the little play thing of Jay Collins, aren’t you just the little asset” he taunted “Where do you fall in her little web of lovers I wonder Eric?” he asked looking smug, Eric growled and shoved him. The guy finally left shooting me a wink as he did. He gave me chills as he walked past.
“Who the fuck was the guy?” Eric demanded looking around at all of us his eyes falling on me. I wrapped my arms around myself.
“Nate was making deals with Collins?” my dad asked me. I nodded.
“He was going to give him Hannah, but then Dez met me and he called off the wedding and all the alliances…” I told him “He must have promised me to that guy in case everything went bad.” I whispered the last part. Nate was a disgusting man.
I felt Jay run his hand across my back and pull me towards him, but I jumped at the touch. He looked down at me and looked guilty, I pulled away from him. I had seen a side of Jay I wasn’t too sure about, I needed time to think.
“Did you know about this?” my dad asked me, I shook my head biting my lip.
“From now on, I want one of us with her at all times until we get this sorted out” my dad said shaking his head rubbing his temples.
