Chapter 113
But I knew Dezmond would shoot that idea down the second she brought it to him. So I didn’t mention it.
“Let’s go drink” she suddenly said, she caught my surprise.
“what?” I said automatically.
“Let’s go drink, like at a bar” she told me, she looked like she had made her mind up and she looked
excited.
“Okay… do you have a specific bar in mind?” I asked still trying to wrap my mind around the sudden idea of going to a bar. She shrugged and gave me a small smile.
“I don’t go to bars” she replied. I had been to bars around here for business and what not but they weren’t any place I would ever bring her within a mile of. The bars around here were full of rogues and all types of creatures with no morals. I didn’t want to expose her to that in any way. I also knew if I was to bring her to a bar, I wouldn’t have any problems, because everyone knew who I was and they wouldn’t
dare to even think about her if they knew she was with me.
I sighed “Okay” I finally said.
Kendal’s POV
He opened the door for me, and I stepped in. The smell of beer and sweat hit me immediately and I
wrinkled my nose. I could smell the scent of rogues prominently among the other scents of things I didn’t recognize. It looked super shady in here. Every man I saw looked intimidating as hell, and I hated the way their eyes trailed down my body. But it seemed like the second they looked behind me at Jay, their
heads turned quick enough to give them whiplash.
There was fighting ring in the middle and people beating the shit out of each other, I grabbed on to his arm tightly, staying as close as possible. He brought me to the bar, and picked my hips up setting me on a
stool.
“Jay” the bartender said shaking his hand.
“Lyle” Jay responded stiffly, I could see his eyes darting around the room, he stood close to me and rested his hands on either side of me on the bar. I studied the bartender, he was tall and lanky, he had blonde hair and eyes that looked almost a deep burgundy, I didn’t know what he was, I stared at him curiously.
“Who’s this?” he asked his eyes trailing from Jay down to me, I gave him a small smile.
“I’m Kendal” I said sticking my hand over the bar having to stand up on the foot piece of the bar stool to lean over the bar to get my arm across. He took my hand and shook it, I bit down on my lip to keep from

flinching, his hand was ice cold, it sent chills up my arm. He made me slightly uncomfortable, something about him just seemed off. He let go of my hand and I sat back down, his eyes held curiosity and excitement and he looked very amused as he studied me. He looked at me like I was something to eat, or his prey. I snuggled closer to Jay reaching for his arm at my side and tugging it down into my lap so his arm was wrapped around my waist loosely.
He automatically wrapped the other around me and pulled me back into his chest. I felt safe, despite the intimidating red eyes on me. I squeezed his arm tightly, taking in his warmth that engulfed me and made my chills go away.
“Your girlfriend?” Lyle questioned, his eyes going back up to Jay. Jay didn’t respond, but by the way he suddenly lost all of his confidence and his eyes dropped, I assumed he was intimidating him in some way.
“Do you want to go?” Jay asked me lowly pressing his lips against my ear, it made me shiver. I bit down on my lip thinking before shaking my head.
“No, it’s okay” I told him turning slightly in his arms and looking up at him. He studied my eyes and brushed some hair out of my face, keeping his hand in my neck.
“Are you sure?” he asked me, as he brushed his thumb over my jaw softly, I nodded, with more confidence this time, finally he agreed.
“What do you want to drink?” Lyle asked us. Jay ordered a beer, and he looked at me and I thought for a minute. I turned around looking at Jay again.
“Can I have fireball?” I asked him quietly, his eyebrows shot up but his face broke out in a grin.
O
“You can have whatever you want” he told, I turned back around “Fireball” I told Lyle who nodded and disappeared down the bar.
“What is he?” I whispered to Jay.
“He’s a demon” he told me his warm lips pressed against my ear again. I was starting to notice him more, and it really bothered me.
“Really?” I asked excitedly, actually turning my whole entire stool so that my back was to the bar, he dropped his hands, and nodded.
“He’s so scary though” he actually threw his head back and laughed.
“Lyle?” he questioned, I nodded eagerly.
“Lyle is harmless” he told me.
“Oh…” I said, I couldn’t imagine what an actual harmless demon was like, I’d probably piss myself from being scared.
