“What are you doing later?” Eric asked.
“I’m going home to take a shower and then I’m going back to sleep.” I told him.
“Jenny told me I wasn’t allowed to let you be alone and you’re not allowed to take a shower longer than ten minutes” he recited, I rolled my eyes.
“She’s ridiculous. I’m fine.”
“Well she scares me so, I guess we can take a nap together then” he said taking a sip of his smoothie.

“I’ll come” he offered, giving me an amusing look, I rolled my eyes again but finally agreed.

“Well…” I began playing with my fingers in front of my letting my eyes drop.
“the last time this happened, I got really low after, and it took a little while for Jenny to get me out of it” 1 said slowly.
“you seem fine” he offered.
“Yeah… I haven’t been alone since I got here, and the circumstances are… different this time.” I told him chewing my lip, my appetite gone so I pushed my cup back a little and sat back in my seat pulling my knees to my chest, hoping to hold the hole in my chest together physically.
“So what happened?” he asked after a little while, I stared at him.
“it’s just been a crazy couple months” I told him quietly hoping he wouldn’t make me go into detail, he finally nodded. We started another conversation and then Eric and I went to my dad’s.
“Hey dad” I said walking in his office plopping myself sideways in the seat across from his desk while Eric just stood behind it. “Smoothie?” I asked offering the rest of my smoothie out to him, he took it and took a sip. Eric and I finally decided to go back home after visiting with my dad for a little while.
“You cool down here while I shower?” I asked as he sat on the couch, he nodded picking up Jenny’s x–box

“You have 10 minutes” he called as I walked up the stairs. I quickly took a shower and then put on sweats and a t–shirt and went back downstairs. I connected the other controller and Eric attempted to
teach me the buttons,

“Wait which one is the one where”
“Kendal, you’re about to go in the ocean.”
“Wait how do I stop?” I asked sitting up watching my person continue towards the ocean.
“No!” I said letting go of all the controls.
“Kendal.” the screen turned red as I died.
“I didn’t even do that” I said loudly, I threw the controller on the opposite couch.
“That’s so dumb” I said pouting, Eric laughed loudly. I gave up on video games after that.
“Tell me how you met my dad” I suggested, he shifted and then leaned back getting comfortable and I straightened giving him my attention.
“Well, I grew up around your dad, I’ve known him since I was… man I don’t know like 15” he said putting his hand behind his neck rubbing it, his eyes on the ground thinking. I chewed on my lip for a little while.
He had known my father longer than me, which was a shitty feeling considering I just met my dad.
“So why aren’t you in a pack?” I asked him quietly, judging his reaction to see if I was pushing my boundaries. I felt like I had known Eric my whole life, so sometimes I had to remind myself that I only met him about a week ago and there were things that weren’t really my business yet.
“Pack life isn’t for me” he said shaking his head, his voice sounded like he was talking about a disliked
food instead of the way of life we were supposed to live.
“Have you ever been in a pack?” I responded curiously.
“Nope, and I don’t want to be, I like being on my own. No rules, or obligations, just doing what I want, whenever.” He responded thinking for a minute. I thought about that for a little while.
