Chapter 102
“KendalTM my dad said coming into my room knocking quietly, I sat up closely pulling my blankets around. me. I had spent a lot of time in my room, but I wasn’t sulking over Dez like I thought I would be. I missed him more than anything and there was occasional tears when it was too much, and a big hole in my chest when I thought about him. But Jenny kept me going and laughing so it was hard to actually sit down and think about him. She had been spending the night every night and making me stay up late and then wake up early. She knew what she was doing. But I still missed him like hell.
Dad had said he tried to get ahold of him, but until then it was a waiting game.
“Do you want to help Angel with dinner I glared.
“No thanks” I said sarcastically.
“Jenny and Kylie are coming over for dinner tonight” he told me lightly, I nodded. Thank god. Jenny was
coming-
Angel made lasagna for dinner, and as much as I wanted to hate her the woman could cook. Kylie talked about her day at school and Jenny cracked jokes. The awful thing was as much as I wanted to hate this, and hate Angel and Kylie I actually felt like I was in a real family here. More than I ever did when I was with my mom. Kylie and Angel had some spa thing planned all day tomorrow while Jenny and I were going shopping to get me clothes so I could stop wearing hers. My whole wardrobe was at Dez’s still, hopefully soon I could get back to it.
I stayed quiet and just listened, and gave answers sometimes when my dad asked me a question attempting to get me involved in the conversation. Afterwards Jenny and Dad went to the living room to watch some football game and then Angel decided to go to the store to get ice cream. Kylie went to the kitchen after everyone had gotten up, I sat at the table still I could hear Jenny and my dad talking excitedly about the game and the cliché sportscaster talking about the game. The clash of plates was in the kitchen. Finally I got up and picked up the plates taking them into the kitchen where Kylie was washing dishes, I set them down next to the sink and she gave me a questionable look.
“Thanks” she said quietly I nodded and went back to get the others. I came back with the rest and set them down, and turned to the island helping to put away some of the food Angel forgot to put up.
“Kendal…” I turned around to kylie looking at her questionably.
“I’m sorry…” she said her eyes on the ground before they came up to meet mine.
“For what?” I asked looking around making sure there wasn’t anything broken or anything. I was confused.
“I know you probably feel like we’re the reason that your dad left your mom. And I’m sorry that he

wasn’t there for you growing up I cant… I can’t imagine doing growing up without a dad…” I raised an eyebrow and grit my teeth slightly.
“It’s cool” was my response and I turned back around.
“It’s not.” She responded, I took in a deep breath.
“Look you didn’t ask to be born. My dad made the choice he did, but your mom is who he was supposed to be with. He didn’t chose that. The only person to blame here would be my dad and I’m not mad at him so… Really. It’s cool.” I told her and then turned back around once again.
Angel came back with two tubs of ice creams and on was split but the four of us and the other one was just for Jenny because she wouldn’t share. I went to bed early and Jenny stayed over.
“Kendal wake up” Jenny said shaking me. I groaned and pulled all my blankets over my head.
“Kendal!” Jenny said flipping me out of bed.
“Jenny what the fuck” I said sitting up, I looked at the clock seeing it was 6:30.
“It’s fucking 6:30 are you crazy?” I asked looking up at her ignoring the burn of the light in my eyes.
“Do you want clothes or not?”
“Later” I responded and then went back to sleep. Jenny let me sleep in until 9:30. Finally I made some coffee and put on some Nike shorts and simple t–shirt with some basic nikes.
Jenny drug me around the mall, into every single store, and we bought loads of shit. At least I got to pick them out this time. Finally, it was about 10 at night and I was dragging my feet and I was exhausted, but as usual Jenny was still full of energy.
“Jenny we’re going home. I need a nap.” I told her, she rolled her eyes but eventually agreed. We went home and then took turns getting up every thirty minutes throughout the night of switching clothes from the washer to dryer and putting more in the washer. My phone started ringing and Jenny kicked me making a loud whining noise.
“What” I said into the phone.
