Chapter 11
Faced with his overwhelming affection, I fled. I didn’t know how to reject people properly.
It was the same as when Silan confessed to me. Even though I didn’t feel much for him, I agreed out of politeness.
Half of my unhappiness stemmed from not knowing how to say no.
After my rejection, Kevin learned to take things slowly, softening me with tenderness.
Every day, he sent me a bouquet of rare herbs favored by wolves from my region (which was very kind and thoughtful considering he didn’t just send cliche flowers) and picked me up from my duties at the pack house.
He tried every romantic gesture imaginable, while Silan, unwilling to give up, kept trying to reconcile.
The two of them exhausted me, and one day, they finally crossed paths.
Silan scowled at the bundle of moonlit sage in Kevin’s hand and demanded,
“Who is he? Why is he giving you these gifts?”
Kevin glanced at the frostbloom petals in Silan’s hand and smirked coldly.
“Laurel is sensitive to frostbloom. Didn’t you know that? What gives you the right to show up here?”
Silan froze, quickly throwing the frostbloom petals into the trash and apologizing to me.
“I’m sorry, I forgot. I won’t bring these again. What kind of offerings do you like?”
Just the sight of him gave me a headache. I cut him off bluntly.
“I’m not aligning with your pack’s needs. Give up and stop coming to me.”
He hesitated before replying dismissively,
“I’ve already stepped down from the pack’s leadership. I’m not here for that.”
“My daughter misses you. I just want to start over with you. I’m not thinking about anything else.”
I frowned, wondering what kind of game he was playing this time.
Seeing my doubt, he remained calm and added,

Chapter 11
“It’s fine if you don’t believe me. I’ll prove it to you.”
Through all this, he had changed. He now understood that the person he truly loved had always been
- me.
But it was too late. Belated love is worth less than grass under the full moon.
What’s the point of regret after losing everything? Not all mate bonds can be salvaged.
“We’re over. The more you try, the more I’ll resent you. Let’s leave each other some dignity.”
Silan’s face turned pale, his expression filled with pain.
“Can’t you give me one last chance?”
After I confirmed my answer, he left, shoulders slumped as his once–proud Alpha posture faltered.
Seeing my discomfort, Kevin handed me a sprig of wolfsbane, pulling a goofy face like he used to when
we were pups.
“Don’t frown. Cheer up.”
His silly expression made me laugh, and he visibly relaxed.
“If you don’t like me, I’ll stop bothering you. Sorry for causing trouble.”
I decided to tease him, nodding solemnly. His face immediately fell.
“Fine. I’ll leave. Call me if you miss me.”
As he turned to leave, I grabbed his hand.
“Hey, I didn’t say anything yet. Why are you so impatient?”
He looked back, puzzled. I felt a little shy but said,
“I like the wolfsbane. Bring me another tomorrow.”
His eyes lit up, brimming with joy and love.
“Thank you for giving me a chance. I’ll work hard to earn your love again. I’ll treat you a hundred, a
thousand times better than before.”
