Chapter 92
“Symptoms?” James asked, he didn’t ask specific questions because I had spent enough time with himn in the infirmary to memorize the questions about to be asked.
“Nausea” I replied while Brewer rubbed my back lightly, it was oddly relaxing having him here.
“Anything else Luna?” I shook my head.
“Headache? Hot flashes?” he trailed off and I shook my head, he felt my head and gave a random nod.
“Probably just a stomach bug Luna, best to just rest, ill send for some ginger ale and maybe some apples to eat, you’ll be fine tomorrow” I nodded.
“Thank you” I said, he smiled at me. I liked James a lot and since I had been helping him out and working with him I knew him as a person and he was a good man. I could smell Dez so I knew he was near and here but I didn’t know where, after James left his scent faded.
“Is Dez still here?” I asked Brewer, a puzzled look crossed his features, as it always did at me calling him
Dez.
“Collins left earlier.”
“Where was he?” I asked,
“He was sitting outside the door during your diagnosis Luna” Brewer answered obediently, I nodded.
“Try to take a nap Luna” Brewer told me as one of the other guards came in the bathroom and sat on the opposite wall. I closed my eyes, and tried to relax and let sleep take over. I finally got to sleep but was woken every now and then to throw up.
Finally, by the time night had set, my stomach had settled and I went to the kitchen in search of food.
“Slowly Luna” Brewer reminded for the third time as I ate apple slices, I looked at him in irritation but did as told and ate slower. He made me wait a little while to see if my stomach could handle it before letting me eat the whole apple. Dez came home around midnight and I had already taken a shower and was lying in bed waiting for his return.
He took a quick shower then got in bed, I fell asleep quickly not bothering to say anything to him. He was in one of his moods where all he does is push me away so I wasn’t going to push it. I woke up around 3 and found Dez in the kitchen with a cup of coffee.
“What are you doing?” I asked, he looked up at me and then looked me up down. I had a hoodie on and that was basically it.

Chapter 92
“You’ve been having nightmares all night.” He replied.
“Oh…I’m sorry” I replied, he stood up and gave me a nod. I realized that he was fully dressed and debated on asking where he was going.
“Where are you going?” I asked as he opened the back door, he turned around.
“Go back to sleep Kendal.” Was his response and he stood there waiting while I scrutinized him. I finally nodded and then turned around going back down the hallway hearing the door shut. I went back to sleep and slept in really late. I got dressed in simple ripped jeans and white t–shirt with some timberlands and decided to go visit James.
I went into the infirmary, James gave me a questionable look.
“Luna” he said greeting me pressing a hand to my forehead.
“Not sick anymore” I promised holding my hands up, he finally nodded.
“Why don’t you go complete this physical for me down the hall” he suggested handing me a file.
“Who is it?” I asked.
“He’s 6, you always do better with the children” I nodded and then went down the hallway. His name was Josh and he was literally the cutest little boy I’ve ever seen in my life, he was a little shy but he eventually warmed up to me.
“Okay deep breath love” I said listening quietly for any weird rattles, he let out a small giggle and I grinned as he took in another breath. I caught the smell of blood and I was alarmed. I stopped what I was doing because if I could smell it from here it had to be an alarming amount of blood. And what made my stomach drop was that I could smell Dez’s scent. I set everything down and almost yanked the door off its hinges, I ran down the hall and froze at the sight before me.
It was Dez.
He was on a stretcher and blood covered almost every inch of his body and he was unconscious. I stopped breathing. His hair was matted in the dark red substance, all I could smell was the metallic scent of his blood and the smell of his skin. I looked up seeing James directly speaking to me, but I couldn’t hear what he was saying all I could hear was my heart beating in my ears. Eventually a large chest took up my sight and someone wrapped their arms around me and led me out into a palce with chairs. I couldn’t comprehend anything, all I could hear was a ringing in my ears and all I could smell was the lingering scent of Dez’s blood. I could see people coming to sit in the room as well in my vision but I didn’t understand any of this.
