Then he took out his cell phone and called me.
Seeing that no one answered, he was nervous, and even his forehead ́ was covered with beads of sweat.
When Ethan’s nerves were about to break, the call was hung up.
Ethan relaxed instantly and then became furious.
“See? She hung up on me.
“Don’t you know what kind of temper Yolanda has? Yesterday was my mother’s birthday, and I asked her to celebrate her birthday, but she ran away halfway and even pretended to be missing. She wants me to comfort her, right? I won’t.”
I felt disappointed when I saw Ethan put the blame on me without hesitation.
Chris clenched his fists as if he wanted to punch Ethan, but after a while, he gave up.
“Ethan, Yolanda is pregnant. How could you let her go to see your mother alone?

Chris glanced meaningfully at Sandy who was sitting on the sofa, his eyes full of disdain.
Ethan took a step forward and stood in front of Sandy.
“Chris, you know why I married Yolanda. Apart from responsibility, I don’t have any other feelings for her.”
Chris looked at Ethan angrily.
“Yolanda said she didn’t do that, and I believe her. Don’t go–too far, or I will drive you out of Avar City.”
Seeing Chris tried so hard to protect me, I regretted it.

I regretted that I made myself so miserable and even lose my life for someone who didn’t love me.
Ethan ignored Chris‘ warning and snorted coldly.
“You two are really alike. You both like to use threats to get what you want.”
“Ethan, you’d better pray that Yolanda can come back safely. Otherwise, I will never let you off.”
Chris stopped arguing with Ethan. He opened the door and prepared to leave. Before leaving, he suddenly took a step back and looked at Sandy who was sitting on the sofa.
He said in a deep voice, “Sandy, if anything happens to Yolanda, I can’t guarantee that I can keep the things you did a secret.”
Sandy was frightened, and even her hands that were holding Ethan’s sleeves were shaking.
“Ethan, I don’t know when I offended Chris. Why does he say this to me? I didn’t do anything.”
Sandy looked at Ethan with tears in her eyes. Ethan hugged her and looked in the direction where Chris left.
Ethan snorted coldly. “They are the same. They will do anything to achieve their goals. Don’t be afraid. I will protect you.”
I looked at Chris‘ back and fell into deep thought. I didn’t quite understand what he said. What other secrets did Sandy have?
Because my parents died early, I had lived with Chris since I was young, and he protected me so well that I knew nothing about the dangers of the outside world.
