BOOK4 Chapter14
It was like he had been doused with cold water, and tears poured down his face.
“Jenna, I was wrong.”
“I didn’t know your secret method required sacrificing your life…”
“I took your love for granted and squandered it.”
“Why didn’t you ever tell me you were in pain? I had no idea you were suffering so
much…
“I’m a monster, only realizing what I had after I lost it…”
He looked up at me, his eyes a mix of madness and tenderness. “Stay with me,
Jenna. Just stay with me, please?”
But I felt nothing.
I had let go, completely.
This man holding onto me…
We had been together for so many years. He had saved me from danger countless
times, but had also pushed me into the abyss.
Our bond in this life was nothing but a rotten, maggot-infested curse.
It should have been s**d to the winds long ago.
I adjusted his tie and smiled gently. “It’s over, Jackson. Let’s not see each other again.”
BOOK chapter14
The debts of this life have been paid, and I want to move on, free of any burdens.
To a place where Jackson doesn’t exist.
To become the wind, the rain, and someone who loves only myself.
The sound of police sirens echoed outside the factory as my form began to fade.
“Jackson, don’t take justice into your own hands, and don’t seek death.”
“In this life and the next, for all eternity, I never want to see you again.”
I smiled, dimples forming, but tears fell from my eyes. “Okay?”
Jackson tried to reach for me, but his hands grasped at nothing.
From the factory came a heart-wrenching scream, like a beast mourning the loss of
its mate.
In the days that followed….
A homeless man with c**d legs began to appear on the streets.
His hair was a tangled mess, and his mind seemed to wander. Around his neck, he
always wore a crushed silver amulet.
Day after day, year after year, he prostrated himself, inching forward on the ground.
He didn’t pray to meet her again, nor to rekindle their love.
All he wished for was that his beloved could find peace and happiness in all things,
just as her name, Jenna, suggested.
