Chapter 60
She had no choice but to wear a mask and feign politeness:
“At that time, I had just donated a kidney and my health wasn’t good enough to carry a pregnancy.”
Nathan didn’t press her any further; after all, he had no
expectations of a child with Isabella.
“Better off aborted. With a mother as irresponsible as you, you don’t deserve to have my child.”
Nathan said coldly.
Isabella’s hand, hidden in her sleeve, clenched into a fist, her nails digging into her skin.
But when her gaze landed on Victoria’s smug face, she suddenly deflated.
She forced herself to adopt a false, sweet smile: “Darling, if I don’t give you a child, you’ll end up without one, won’t you?”
Nathan was speechless with anger.
Victoria, however, was unconcerned. “Bella, what successful man doesn’t have a few women on the side? Successful men always have a few sons from other women, don’t they?”
Isabella smiled sweetly, reminding her: “Oh, the children you have with other women can only be called bastards.”

Victoria retorted, “Bella, you are Nathan’s first wife. You should be more magnanimous.”
Isabella fixed her eyes on Victoria and said coldly, “I’m a small- minded person. I don’t like sharing a man with other women. So, a man who’s been dirtied, I won’t have.”
Nathan frowned, his face stern. “Isabella, are you warning me?”
Isabella lifted her chin and looked him in the eye. “Yes.
I want to tell you that if you don’t want a divorce, you’d better stay faithful to me. Don’t get too cozy with those women. outside.”
Victoria, seemingly caught off guard, suddenly felt a pang of panic. “Bella, are… are you unhappy that I’m getting too close to Nathan?”
Isabella didn’t hold back and shot back, “What do you think? Would you want your husband to get that close to me?”
Victoria swallowed hard, her face flushed, and her neck. thickened.
Nathan stared at Isabella in stunned silence. The sharp, decisive woman standing before him was a total surprise.
“Isabella…”
He couldn’t bear to submit to Isabella’s domineering attitude. Gritting his teeth, he said, “My private life is none of your business. If you interfere, I don’t know what I’ll do to you.”
Isabella looked at him like a rogue, her expression one of nonchalance as if daring him. “What do you mean by that? Are

you suggesting we go our separate ways?”
Nathan fell silent for a moment, as if finding an escape from their marriage. “You mind your business, and I’ll mind mine. It might work better that way.”
Isabella’s eyes were unreadable.
But she deliberately adopted the posture of a pitiful little woman, her voice trembling as she feigned tears, “When you wanted my kidney, you promised to take care of me for the rest of my life. Now that you’ve taken my kidney, you want to sever ties and go your own way. Nathan, I must have been blind to fall for a vain, selfish man like you.”
Nathan was stung by her words, the accusations hitting too close to home. He wanted to explain, but the truth in her accusations was undeniable.
“Alright, I was just joking. If you can’t accept us going our separate ways, I’ll still take care of you.”
Nathan’s voice was hollow, as if resigned.
Isabella, however, didn’t want to hear any more. With a huff, she grabbed the speaker and went into her room, closing the door behind her, locking both him and Victoria out of her world.
Nathan and Victoria exchanged a glance, filled with mutual sympathy and reassurance.
Victoria’s eyes grew dark. “Why has Bella become so heartless? It looks like I’ll have to ask my mom to teach her a lesson.”
Nathan rubbed his forehead, clearly frustrated. “Your mom

never treated Isabella well. She has a strong psychological barrier whenever she sees your mom…”

“Nathan, no matter what, my mom raised my sister. Maybe she’ll listen to her.”
Nathan still felt uneasy, but accustomed to following Victoria’s lead, he didn’t voice any objections.
What Isabella didn’t expect was that one day, her mother would actually show up at their door.
She looked very old, wearing cheap, street market clothes. Her face was lined with deep wrinkles, and if no one had mentioned her real age, she could easily be mistaken for an elderly woman in her seventies or eighties.
