I reached into my bag and pulled out a stack of photos, handing them to him. “Take a look for yourself.”
Arthur hesitated but took the photos. As he flipped through them, his expression changed drastically.
The images showed Ella being intimate with another man–her ex–boyfriend–along with photos of them attending a prenatal checkup together.
I took a step back, not wanting to get caught in the fallout.
“Arthur, I’ve already done my research. The child Ella is carrying isn’t yours–it’s her ex–boyfriend’s. She’s just using you to find a wealthy father for her baby.”
“Tell me, Mr. Desmond, how does it feel to be raising someone else’s child?”
The day I moved out of the house, I happened to catch a glimpse of a WhatsApp message on Ella’s phone: ‘Getting Arthur to raise our son was pure genius, babe!‘
From that moment, I knew Ella was hiding something big. I hired a private investigator to dig into her background, and sure enough, there was plenty of dirt to uncover.
Arthur’s face turned beet red, then ghostly pale. In a fit of rage, he flung the photos at Ella. “You conniving tramp! How dare you lie to me!”
Ella was clearly caught off guard, utterly shocked that I had unearthed the truth.
Tears streamed down her face as she dropped to her knees.
“Darling! I… I’m sorry! I only did this because I love you so much. If I hadn’t gotten pregnant, you never would’ve agreed to divorce Hannah and marry me!”
“You said yourself you couldn’t stand Hannah and that brat of hers. I just wanted to stay by your
side… Darling, I was wrong!”
Arthur grabbed a fistful of Ella’s hair, his face flushed with anger.
I know Arthur Desmond well–he despises being deceived above all else. For someone so desperate to have a son, finding out he’s been raising another man’s child is the ultimate humiliation.
Sure enough, consumed by rage, Arthur lost all control and started beating Ella Throne mercilessly.

At first, she tried to placate him, but eventually, the relentless blows made her break down, crying, and begging for mercy. Nothing she said could calm him down.
Sensing the situation was getting out of hand, I quickly dialed 911.
By the time the paramedics arrived, Ella was bleeding profusely from her lower body, a chilling sight that left even me shaken.
Arthur, however, sat on the floor wailing like a victim, lamenting that he had lost both his wife and
his son.
I silently watched the absurd scene unfold, then turned and walked back to the hotel.
I later heard that Ella was rushed to the hospital, but her baby couldn’t be saved. She was inconsolable, demanding two million dollars in compensation from Arthur.
Meanwhile, Arthur’s company’s financial issues worsened.
After the scandal, most of his investors pulled out, forcing him to lay off a significant portion of his staff. Bankruptcy was looming on the horizon.
What I didn’t expect was for Arthur to come looking for me less than a week after Ella’s miscarriage.
was at a restaurant near the hotel, buying baby food for Lila, when a haggard–looking Arthur appeared in front of me. He looked as though he had aged ten years.
He reached out as if to grab my sleeve. “Hannah, please come back. I’ve taken care of everything.”
I quickly stepped back. “Do you not understand? We’re divorced!”
Arthur pulled two small toys from his pocket, forcing a smile.
“No matter what, I’m still Lila’s father. You can’t let her grow up without a dad, can you?”
Lila is indeed my soft spot, but that doesn’t mean I’d allow the same man who once fed her sleeping pills to be a part of her life.
Ignoring him, I turned and walked toward the exit.
Arthur became agitated and grabbed me tightly. “Hannah! Don’t leave! I’ve lost my child, my company is collapsing–I have nothing left but you! You can’t abandon me!”
I almost laughed at the absurdity. “Now you remember me? What am I, some cheap fallback option?”

Our struggle drew the attention of bystanders, and a few kind–hearted onlookers tried to intervenę, only to be scared off by Arthur’s unhinged behavior.
“She’s my wife! It’s only right that she comes home with me! Anyone who gets in my way will regret
it!”
Just as despair was setting in, a surprising group came to my rescue–Ella’s family.
Of course, their intention wasn’t to save me.
