Chapter 3
“I’ve already warned her. If she’s smart, she should understand what I mean.”
“I hope when it’s time for the divorce, she won’t be so in love with me that she can’t let go.”
Hearing those words, I scoffed coldly.
That night, there was no thunderstorm, but I still suffered.
The soundproofing here wasn’t very good.
The guest room I was staying in was right next to the master bedroom.
The bed next door creaked, and the sound of their passionate moans reached me.
I couldn’t sleep all night.
The next day, I woke up with dark circles under my eyes.
Helen misunderstood me.
She looked at me with pity.
“This is what happens when you steal someone else’s love. You should learn your lesson.”
“Of course, no one is irreplaceable. When it’s just you alone, you’ll have to come to terms with it.”
That day, Glen was particularly attentive. He cooked a huge breakfast.
This was the first time in six years that I saw him cook.
Unlike me, he prepared a pair of public knife and fork.
Seeing my gaze, he seemed a little embarrassed.
“Helen has a cleanliness obsession.”
Not long after saying that, Glen picked up a piece of walfe with the same fork he had just used and personally fed it to Helen.
Helen looked pleasantly surprised.

Babe, I didn’t expect you to remember I love walfes! The whole table is filled with my favorites.”
Glen smiled widely at her words.
But I had little appetite, as the entire table was filled with what Helen liked, and all of it was what I
hated.
After breakfast, Glen hesitated for a moment before handing me a package.
He spoke carefully.
“This is the legal document for the divorce lawsuit. I’ve signed for it.”
“I filed this lawsuit voluntarily. The feelings were shallow, and between us, it ends here. You don’t need to force anything, don’t beg me…”
He rambled on, clearly afraid I might cling to him.
But I merely replied casually.
“Oh.”
When he heard my response, his voice abruptly stopped.
Then he sighed deeply.
“Don’t pretend to be strong. If you want to cry, just cry it out.”
At the same time, Helen spoke up.
“Susan, do you need me to find you a better lawyer?”
“Although they can’t compare to the top–tier lawyer Glen hired, they can still help you lose with some dignity.”
“I don’t need one.”
“I’ll win this case.”
dropped my chopsticks and turned to leave.
Glen, no longer pretending, chuckled behind me.
“That lawyer’s the best in the industry, having won a global legal award. No matter who you hire to

Help, you won’t win! Stop being so stubborn.”
In the following days, although Glen and I were under the same roof, we didn’t exchange a single
word.
Until the day the divorce lawsuit was scheduled.
I woke up early, took out my well preserved lawyer’s suit, and put it on.
When Glen saw me, he sneered.

“Looks the part, but I guess this is the only way you yourself.”
Helen also came to observe the proceedings.
Before the court session started, Glen saw I was sitting alone and muttered.
“Such overconfidence, really not hiring a lawyer?”
I raised an eyebrow, “Where’s your lawyer?”
Glen arrogantly raised his chin. “He’s on the way.”
But after several minutes passed, even the judge started urging.
Yet, Glen’s lawyer still hadn’t shown up.
He finally panicked, sending numerous messages to the so–called top–tier lawyer.
But they all went unanswered.
One minute before the court session began, he couldn’t hold back and called the lawyer.
At that very moment, my phone rang.
Glen’s face turned pale as he realized something.
I happily slid my phone to answer, showing it to him.

Suddenly, Glen stood up, trembling, his face drained of color. He shakily pointed at me.
“Susan, are you playing me?”
Traised an eyebrow. “I’m not playing you. Didn’t you say I should show up in court? Well, here I am, Just like I promised.”
With that, Glen stormed toward me, his face contorted in rage.
But just then, the judge slammed the gavel.
“Silence. The divorce lawsuit is officially in session.”
The stern tone of the judge’s voice helped Glen regain some composure.
Helen, standing by, glared at me with hatred.
