Chapter 6
Arthur’s panic was palpable.
“Hannah, listen to me! I’ve already found a new investor. The company will recover soon. I really don’t want to divorce you. Where are you? I’ll come and take you home!”
I didn’t respond and abruptly hung up the phone.
If I didn’t, I might have had a heart attack from the sheer rage he was causing me.
A man who cheats while playing the role of a devoted husband deserves nothing less than to be torn
apart.
Since Arthur refused to sign the divorce papers, I had to find some outside help.
And who better to help than Ella, who was eager to secure her position and register her baby’s
name?
sent the divorce papers to Ella, along with a simple note, “Get Arthur to sign this. It’s your only chance to move up.”
, I wasn’t sure what methods Ella used, but she sent back the signed divorce agreement soon after.
While I was thrilled to regain my freedom, I couldn’t help but feel a little curious. What made Arthur change his mind?
I didn’t have to wait long for the answer–it appeared right on the trending topics.

The video trending online showed Ella forcing Arthur to sign the divorce papers.
He adamantly refused, and Ella broke down, yelling and hitting him.
She accused him of using her as a mere baby machine, getting her pregnant, and then shirking all responsibility.
The entire drama was caught by an investor visiting incognito. Furious, they announced on the spot that they were pulling their investment.

no time, Arthur became the target of public scorn as the quintessential scumbag.
Ella truly lived up to her role as my unexpected ally. Not only did she get the divorce papers signed/ but she also dealt a fatal blow to Arthur’s company.
If it weren’t inappropriate, I might’ve sent her a couple of flower baskets to celebrate!
The scandal stayed on the trending list for two days before it was taken down, but it didn’t take a genius to figure out how much damage it had done to Arthur’s reputation.
After all, it was his inability to keep his desires in check that had led to this disaster.
What I didn’t expect was for Arthur to find out which hotel I was staying at and wait for me to show
- up.
One evening, as I returned from buying food, there he was, standing in front of me, tears streaming
down his face.
“Hannah, I finally found you! Please, I’m begging you, come back to me!”
“I can’t go on without you. My life is falling apart–I can’t live without you!”
I let out a hearty laugh. “Oh, really? Sounds to me like you can’t handle the online backlash and
decided to run to me for shelter instead.”
Arthur Desmond was momentarily stunned but quickly resumed pleading with me.
“Hannah, why can’t you just trust me? I only wanted Ella to have a child for me. Sure, I might have been physically unfaithful, but my heart has always belonged to you. You’re the one I love the most!”
I fought the urge to gag. “Then please, for the love of everything, stop bothering me. We’re already divorced.”
Seeing me about to leave, Arthur quickly grabbed my arm. “We can remarry! Hannah, I don’t believe you’ve stopped loving me. You’re just jealous, aren’t you?”
I stared at him in disbelief.
At that moment, a taxi pulled up at the hotel entrance, and out came Ella Throne, her slightly swollen belly unmistakable.
She stormed over and yanked me away from Arthur, playing the part of the legitimate wife.

Darling! Didn’t you say you were heading to the office? What are you doing here, clinging to
another woman?”
Arthur pried her hand off and said, “Ella, calm down. Hannah isn’t just another woman–she’s my…”
Ella interrupted him indignantly, “Your ex–wife! You’re already divorced!”
She turned to me, scanning me up and down. “Hannah Layla, I didn’t expect you’d jump back into this so quickly after the divorce. What are you trying to do?”
Her emotions spiraled, perhaps due to pregnancy hormones, and suddenly, she raised her hand and slapped me hard.
The blow left me momentarily stunned, and instinctively, I was about to hit back.
But Arthur, ever mindful of the child in Ella’s belly, held my arm tightly. “Hannah! Don’t act impulsively! Ella is carrying my child!”
His words reminded me of the surprise I had prepared for him.
I withdrew my hand and smiled faintly. “Arthur, how could I forget? I do have a gift for you.”
A spark of hope lit up in Arthur’s eyes.
