Chapter 8
“You’ve done nothing wrong.” Justin and with a bitter smile. “From your perspective, you were the victim who got dumped. If you hadn’t moved on, that would’ve been unusual.”
He quickly added, “I didn’t even want to go to the reunion yesterday. But Tina’s about to start kindergarten, and I wanted to find a better environment for her. That’s why I wanted to reconnect with classmates and look for a new job. Nicole said she was Tina’s mother on purpose. We have nothing to do with each other, but I didn’t dare correct her because she glared at me. I was afraid if I explained, she’d harm you.”
“I understand.”
I sighed, walking over to help him and Tina up.
“Will you give me a chance?” I tentatively hugged Justin.
He didn’t respond, but he also didn’t resist.
Tina, a bit confused, watched us with a puzzled expression, not fully understanding what was happening.
Just then, the bodyguards returned with snacks and fruit, and Tina happily went to eat.
. Justin and I talked for hours, and I finally understood the challenges he’d faced in the workplace.
Because of his excellence, there was always gossip about him. Both bosses and clients often crossed the line, leaving him no choice but to help his parents sell boxed lunches. His late brother and sister–in–law had supported him too, but their resources were limited.
I told him he’d never have to worry about money again because I had more than enough.
He said he didn’t care about money, as he’d always been a minimalist, but Tina was different.
That very night, I took them both back to my penthouse.
The next day, with Brian Raymond’s help, I fast–tracked the paperwork and officially married Justin.
also ensured Tina was registered under our household.
I asked Tina to call me “Mommy.” She was a little shy but sweetly obliged.
A few days later, Jake called and asked me to come to the development zone.

the development zone, we entered a warehouse and were greeted by a shocking sight.
Nicole Tanner, Grant Colson, Caroline Wade, and several others were tied up and hanging in the air. Not far away, a shredding machine roared loudly.
Jake was lounging on a chair, a mischievous smile on his face.
Justin was terrified and grabbed my hand tightly.
Frowning, I asked, “Jake, what’s going on here?“.
This wasn’t Jake’s usual approach. He didn’t typically resort to violence.
He was the one who had taught me to eliminate opponents strategically and cleanly.
Jake chuckled. “I bribed someone close to Nicole’s father and found out they were plotting against you.”
“You know me. I’m a planner. But if someone strikes first, I don’t mind using more… thrilling methods.”
looked more closely and spotted Nicole’s father among them.
When Nicole saw me, she shouted, “Bonnie Bryson, we were classmates! Give me a chance! I don’t ⚫ want to die!”
“Did you
think about giving me a chance when you were plotting against me?” I countered.
Nicole screamed, “Don’t think I don’t know your methods! You spent two and a half years scheming to take down a rich heir in Capital City. Even if I didn’t plot against you, you would’ve come after me eventually!”
“You’re not wrong,” I said with a nod. “Early or late, you’d have ended up dead. Especially know how you threatened Justin ten years ago, I want you to die even more miserably.”
With that, I left with Justin, telling Jake, “Make sure there’s no trace left.”
A fire can erase everything.” Jake replied.
Not long after, my project officially launched.

spent my days making up for the lost ten years with Justin and Tina,
Later, we held a wedding ceremony, though it wasn’t extravagant.
I also made proper arrangements for Justin’s parents and his late brother’s family.
When the project was stable, Jake returned to Capital City for his arranged marriage.
Eventually, with the project running smoothly, I took Justin and Tina to explore the beautiful landscapes of our country.
