Chapter 2
“Tine, I’ll stay.”
They were the ones who pressed the “start game” button. Now, however the game played out, they had to follow through.
“Do you know what this is?”
“This is called a waterside pavilion. In ancient times, such structures were built with strict. regulations–not just anyone could have one.”
“And even today, it’s the same. Take this manor, for example. To enter, you need to prove your assets. Your net worth must exceed a hundred million, and you need to have a certain level of social
standing.”
Elsie Alison spoke eloquently, her gaze full of ridicule as it fell upon me.
“Rachel Swift, I’m genuinely curious–how did you get in here? I know you’ve made some quick, dirty money, but someone like you, reeking of vulgarity, has no social standing. There’s no way you could have gained access to this place.”
She stepped closer, her tone dripping with disdain.
. “Rachel, you didn’t use Troy’s name to get in, did you? Relying on a man just to step into this kind of
venue–it’s disgusting.”
I couldn’t even be bothered to respond. The competitive venom in her words was revolting. Instead,
I sat down on a chair and replied calmly, “I’m the owner here. Otherwise, why do you think it’s
called Swift Manor?”
My words instantly silenced everyone present.
Then, out of nowhere, someone burst into laughter.
The laughter rippled through the group, and soon, everyone in the pavilion was laughing.
Troy glared at me furiously.
“Satisfied now? I told you not to try to force your way into my circle, but you wouldn’t listen. Now that they’ve humiliated you, are you happy?”

Troy, let me ask you something: are you upset because they’ve humiliated me, or because you think Tve humiliated you?” I asked with a smile.
Troy froze for a moment before stammering angrily, “Clearly, you’re the one in the wrong, and now you’re trying to twist it around?”
“Oh, you’re absolutely right.”
I didn’t bother explaining–it would have been pointless.
Elsie, however, ran over to me, laughing as she patted my shoulder. “Rachel, you’re the best braggart
I’ve ever met. Claiming this manor as your own? Honey. I admire you–most people wouldn’t even
have the guts to lie so brazenly.”
I spread my hands helplessly. “When I tell you the truth, you don’t believe me. There’s nothing more
I can say.”
“Enough!”
Troy’s shout echoed through the pavilion. He looked as though he’d suffered a great humiliation. Pointing at me, he barked, “Rachel, I don’t like your attitude. Apologize to Elsie–right now!”
“There’s no need for an apology.”
I smiled lightly and said, “How about this? Since you value Elsie Alison so much, I’ll step aside. Let’s find a time to get divorced. I wish you both everlasting happiness.”
As soon as I said those words, I saw the color drain from Troy Kayden’s face..
Elsie, on the other hand, clapped her hands in mock applause.
“Rachel Swift, I didn’t expect you to say that. At least you, a lowly dog, have some self–awareness. Troy should have always been mine.”
“Worn–out shoes that don’t fit anymore will eventually be replaced–no applause necessary.”
I chuckled softly.
“Worn–out shoes?”
Troy’s face turned even paler, his eyes reddening as he stared at me in disbelief. “Rachel, say that again! You want a divorce? Are you calling me worn–out shoes?”
“Isn’t that what you are?”

Esaid calmly. “You claim to have a germophobin, yet here you are washing Elsie’s feet. Let me ask, you- -have you ever washed my feet once in all the years we’ve been married?”
“It’s not what you think. We were just playing a game. I lost, that’s all,” Troy stammered, hurriedly trying to explain, but his eyes were filled with panic as he hid his hands behind his back.
“Whatever, I don’t care anymore.”
I smiled. “I know everyone here looks down on me. You think I’m from humble beginnings and not worthy of your lofty circle. Ever since Troy and I got together, you’ve all been hoping for us to get divorced. Some of you have even publicly said as much, claiming Troy should be with Elsie instead. Well, now you’ve got what you wanted.”
Those who had gossiped behind my back didn’t seem the least bit ashamed at being called out. Instead, they looked smug, as if they’d won.
One of them, Jace Arden, even stepped forward and said, “If you knew all along, why didn’t you divorce him earlier? Isn’t it because you were trying to climb into our circle? But look at yourself–do you really think you belong here?”
Jace had always been Elsie’s lackey. Back when Troy and I were dating in college, he’d deliberately praised Elsie in front of me and even said Troy shouldn’t have betrayed her.
If it hadn’t been for Troy, I would have made sure Jace lost everything long ago.
I sneered. “Jace Arden, CEO of Phantom Feather Games. You’ve made a bit of money by publishing a few FPS games, haven’t you?”
Jace froze for a moment, frowning. “What do you mean by that?”
What did I mean?
Since they wanted to play dirty, they couldn’t blame me for making them uncomfortable.
I didn’t answer him directly.
Instead, I took out my phone, dialed a number, and said, “Ricky, Phantom Feather Games is an agent for some of our subsidiary’s games. If I’m not mistaken, there are additional clauses in the contract, aren’t there? For example, if their operations violate our creative principles, we can terminate the partnership at any time and demand compensation for breach of contract, correct?”
Yes, Ms. Swift.” My assistant, Ricky, replied.

Then terminate the partnership with Phantom Feather Games immediately and demand Compensation.”
I ended the call.
