Chapter 11
After the woman went back, she angrily told Davon Smith about what happened.
Before she could finish speaking, Davon suddenly spat out a mouthful of blood and collapsed. It was dinner time, and the family was happily gathered around the table.
My former in–laws were doting on their new daughter–in–law when they saw their precious son fall to the floor. They panicked and rushed him to the hospital.
The doctors gave them a devastating diagnosis–terminal cancer, no hope for recovery. The doctor said,
“If he had come in a month ago, we could have treated him. But now, it’s too late. You should prepare for the worst.”
“Why didn’t you bring him in sooner? It’s too late now,” Davon’s mother fainted on the spot.
His father clutched his chest in pain, and the whole family was thrown into chaos. How do I know all this? Because my sister–in–law, Hali Smith, called me, furious.
Avni Taylor, do you know that my brother has cancer?”
I casually responded, “Oh, isn’t that something everyone knows? Besides, he wanted to divorce me
, because of this, didn’t he?”
Hali was stunned and then became even angrier.
“You don’t know anything! If you had just convinced my brother to go to the hospital earlier, he, might have had a chance, but now… now he’s…” Her voice cracked with emotion. “Now he’s in the terminal stage. There’s no hope.”
“I know, I’ve been trying to get him to go to the hospital for a long time.
I even asked you guys to help convince him. But you didn’t, and told me to respect his wishes.”
I kept pressing her, reminding her of the painful truth: sometimes the chance for salvation is lost because of pride or stubbornness.
Davon had a chance to live, but his infidelity and his desire to divorce me had robbed him of it.
My sister–in–law angrily cursed me, but I hung up the phone with a decisive “click.” It was too late for

Chapter 12
The hospital was in an uproar. Davon’s mistress, clutching her belly in disbelief, was yelling,
“This can’t be true! How could he have cancer? This is a mistake! This is a fake diagnosis! We agreed it was all just for show!”
She caused a scene, accusing the hospital of being bribed and giving a false diagnosis.
The hospital security had no choice but to escort her out. At that moment, Davon slowly regained consciousness, just in time to hear the commotion.
Realizing the gravity of his situation, he spat another mouthful of blood and passed out again.
When he woke up, he was surrounded by his crying family. In his horror, he realized his legs were paralyzed and his condition was rapidly deteriorating.
“My poor son!” His mother wept hysterically, nearly fainting herself.
“Now we need money for his treatment. We can’t let Avni take the house. We have to get it back.”
But we had already signed a property agreement. It wasn’t going to be so easy to take everything
back.
, So, Davon’s family devised a plan to use public opinion against me.
They turned to the internet, painting me as the heartless wife who abandoned her sick husband and took away his money.
“…It’s all that bitch’s fault! If my son had gone for treatment a month ago, he could have been saved. If it weren’t for her stopping him from seeking treatment, he’d still be alive now…”
Davon’s parents and Hali posted tearful, exaggerated accounts on the internet, claiming that I had abandoned him when he needed help the most.
The narrative caught on, with many sympathetic netizens expressing outrage and calling for justice.
But then a follower of mine saw the video and posted their doubts: “Something’s not right here!”
My follower acted fast and linked my social media account to the video, and it wasn’t long before my supporters flooded the comment section with revelations of the truth.

No way! In this video, the husband is saying that he refused treatment! His family agreed with him, Dut the wife tried to convince him to get treatment!”
“Yeah, exactly! The wife was the one fighting for treatment, and it was the family who stopped hert
“Wow, she even took him to the Arctic to fulfill his wish… I’m really moved. To love someone so deeply, it’s incredible.”
“Honestly, I feel for her. My close friend passed away last month, and I can’t imagine the pain of being forced to let go of someone you love…”
As the internet buzzed with sympathy for me, a new voice emerged: “I know the inside story!”
This person posted a blurry video showing Davon talking to my ex–in–laws and his mistress.
“Davon was planning this whole cancer act. He wanted to use it as an excuse to divorce his wife and
get more money.
“His family was in on it, too. They all laughed about how they were going to get rid of Avni for good.”
The video went viral.
“He’s a complete scumbag! He was using cancer to manipulate his wife. That’s disgusting!”
“Good riddance! It’s karma that he really has cancer, but it’s too late to make amends.”
The backlash was swift and brutal. Davon’s family’s reputation was destroyed. People even started throwing rotten eggs at their door.
Hali, realizing the scandal was out of control, tried to run back to her husband. But he, too, found out
and threatened divorce.
My ex–in–laws were now the target of ridicule and scorn. One of them even suffered a stroke from the stress, and the other got into a physical altercation with a neighbor, resulting in a serious injury.
The mistress, seeing that Davon was truly dying and realizing there was no escape, tried to flee with
the money.
She was caught, but the child she had been carrying was already lost.
Davon’s family was left in shambles, and in the end, he died in agony, barely a month after being diagnosed.
As for me, my social media following exploded. I turned the attention into an opportunity to

The money I earned allowed me to fulfill my long–desired charity work, supporting girls in rural areas with the funds for their education.
Before Rainie went back to school, I took her on several trips to broaden her horizons. Our life, mother and daughter, became more free and beautiful every day.
