Chapter 20 Jasper and Conrad
“Ah, aren’t you that… that…” Jasper pointed at Ethan, struggling to remember.
Ethan stood firm, “Mr. Jasper.”
Jasper thought to himself, “It’s over.”
Ethan was in a rush, looking urgently at Conrad.
Conrad wasn’t thinking about what to do with Jasper; instead, he said to Jolene, “Wait for me a moment.”
He took Ethan to the living room.
Ethan reported, “The man escaped.”
He had been escorting the short bodyguard out when a fight broke out in the elevator. The man was unremarkable in appearance but highly skilled.
“Who knew the Tamila family would hire such a formidable assassin!”
Conrad scoffed, “They got him from the Martin family”
Ethan realized, “No wonder I couldn’t match him even for ten moves!”
“The Cooper family provides the base, the Tamila family the gun, and the Martin family the bullets, huh! They are indeed impatient!” Ethan clenched his teeth, suddenly remembering something, “It’s bad, Ms. Lacy saw that man’s face!”
Conrad’s gaze was deep as he stared outside, “Issue a statement, grandfather’s funeral is set for three days from now, and the wake will be held at Susan Mansion.
Susan Mansion was Conrad’s late mother’s residence.
Meanwhile, Jasper, ever the gossip, leaned towards Jolene and whispered, “Jolene, he really is the CEO of McCauley Corp, huh?”
He peered outside, “Isn’t the CEO of McCauley Corp usually based on the West Coast? Why did he suddenly come back?”
Shirley had a realization, “No wonder Ms. Charlotte knows him.“”
Jolene asked, “You saw Charlotte?”
Shirley nodded, “Ms. Charlotte arrived before us. She mentioned Elite Global Plaza and then a hospital. We were about to ask her more when she rushed off.”
“So you came here in a helicopter without getting the full story?”
Jolene was furious, “Can’t you listen to the whole conversation or call ahead?”
Jolene, about to throw her high heel in anger, reminded him, “Do you even remember today is your first day of school?”

When he received the news, he had just arrived in Pryton. Hearing that Jolene had disappeared, his heart sank, and he couldn’t care about school. As soon as he heard that Jolene had been drugged, he panicked
even more.
He had a knife on him, ready to fight to the death if necessary.
Jolene looked at Jasper’s pitiful face, her heart softening yet annoyed, she pushed him away, “Stop it.”
She hid her bandaged hand behind her back, “I’m fine, really.”
Shirley stood by, suddenly feeling a chill down her spine. She turned around to see Conrad had returned.
Conrad asked Ethan for the car keys and told Jolene, “You’re going to the hospital, right? I’ll take you.”
Jolene quickly declined, “No need.”
She called Jasper and Shirley over, recalling how they had kicked in the window to find her and Conrad in a seemingly intimate pose.
Jolene deliberately avoided Conrad, “I’ll have someone fix the broken window soon. You two, apologize.”
Shirley bowed respectfully, “I’m sorry, Mr. Conrad.”
Jasper was defiant, his eyes narrowed and chin lifted, “You bullied Jolene, it doesn’t matter if you’re the CEO of McCauley Corp or her husband, I’ll remember this and get you back one day.”
Just like Benedict.
Conrad looked at Jolene and hearing Jasper’s bold declaration, asked, “Your name is Jasper, how old are you?”
As his
gaze shifted to Jasper, the young man unexpectedly faltered.
“Ni… nineteen!”
Crap, why did I stutter!
Conrad couldn’t help but laugh, thinking there would come a day when Jasper would address him as’brother–in–law.‘
